27-49 Jackson Avenue’s Expanded Superstructure Tops Out in Long Island City, Queens
Construction has topped out on 27-49 Jackson Avenue, a 14-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Originally designed by Raymond Chan Architect and developed by ARCFE, the project stalled in 2020 after only seven floors were built on the westernmost edge of the plot. Work resumed in early 2022 under the ownership of 27-51 Jackson Avenue with an expanded scope, including a wider footprint that extends to the east, and an additional seven levels were built on top. The 161-foot-tall structure will yield 34 apartments on levels three through 14, with no more than four units per story. IX Construction Inc. is the new general contractor for the property, located at the corner of Jackson Avenue and 42nd Road.
Governor Hochul Announces Completion of Maspeth Park in Queens
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the opening of Maspeth Park, a $17.8 million project in Queens. This new facility is the first of its kind in the western part of Maspeth, located near the Kosciuszko Bridge at the intersection of 43rd Street and 54th Road. It is accessible from both the Sunnyside and West Maspeth neighborhoods.

An updated exterior rendering was posted for 24-01 Queens Plaza North, a 19-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by ODA New York and developed by New Empire Corporation, the 115,000-square-foot structure will yield more than 100 condominium units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, as well as a suite of amenities and commercial space. Nere 218 Management LLC is the owner and New Empire Builder Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 41-45 24th Street and located on an 8,967-square-foot lot at the corner of 24th Street and Queens Plaza North.
Superstructure Work Moves Ahead For The Orchard At 27-48 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens
Work is steadily rising vertically at 27-48 Jackson Avenue, aka The Orchard, the site of a 69-story residential skyscraper that will become the future tallest structure in Long Island City and in all of Queens. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Building Orchard LLC, the 811-foot-tall tower yield 635,000 square feet with 818 residential units, 11,700 square feet of retail space, and a two-story parking garage in the podium. Triton Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 43-01 Queens Street and occupies a full city block along Jackson Avenue between Queens and Orchard Streets.
