Renderings Revealed, Permits Filed for 144-16 38th Avenue, Flushing, Queens

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 144 38^th Avenue, in Flushing, Queens. The development will replace a rather unattractive four-story residential structure. The site is five blocks away from the 7 train’s last stop, Main Street Station. Tan Architects will be responsible for the design. The architecture firm has also recently filed permits for a hotel just a block away from the Main Street station.

Rendering Revealed for 580 East 138th Street, Mott Haven, The Bronx

Last month, YIMBY reported on permits for three lots, at 578, 580, and 582nd East 138th Street, in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Now, we have the renderings by OMF Architect PC. The façade uses a simple design scheme with contrasts of white, black, and gray to cleanly articulate its shape.

Construction Nearly Complete at 15 Lafayette Avenue, Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn’s 15 Lafayette Avenue has risen to its full height, with façade installation now complete. Photographs by Tectonic reveal that the structure now stands its full 12 stories, and the exterior has been fully installed. The 138-foot tall building was designed by Dattner Architects, and interiors are not yet finished.

Permits Filed for 700 Manida Street, Hunts Point, The Bronx

Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 700 Manida Street, in Hunts Point, The Bronx. Hunts Point is a relatively secluded peninsula within the Bronx, with a population just over 27,000. The closest subway station is the 6 train stop on Bruckner Boulevard, with the furthest end of the peninsula being a 45-minute walk away. MHANY Management is developing the project.

Plan for “Chestnut Commons” Affordable Housing Revealed in East New York

Plans have been announced for 274 affordable housing units as part of a project entitled Chestnut Commons, in East New York. A rezoning shift pushed by the East New York Neighborhood Plan is mostly responsible for the site’s potential. The building will be affordable to households earning up to $51,540, with more than 80 units for households earning up to $25,770, including a set-aside for formerly homeless families and individuals.

Permits Filed for 712 East 187th Street, Belmont, Bronx

Permits have been filed for a five-story mixed-use building at 712 East 187th Street, in Belmont, The Bronx. This would replace a single-story retail structure. The proposal is mostly residential, with space also included for a community facility and commercial retail. The two nearest subway stations are on 183rd street, one serviced by the B and D trains, and the other, the 4 train. They’re both about a half hours’ walk.

Permits Filed for 136-23 41st Avenue, Flushing, Queens

An anonymous LLC has filed permits for an eight-story mixed-use structure in Flushing, Queens. The site, at 136-23 41st Avenue, is in a commercial center of the neighborhood, with several malls and restaurants within the surrounding blocks. The Queens Botanical Garden, Queens Museum, and Citi Field are also nearby. The last stop for 7 trains, at Main Street Station, is just over a block away.

Groundbreaking, Reveal for New Brooklyn Public Library at 107 Norman Avenue, Greenpoint

The Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) has officially broken ground on the two-story replacement for their Greenpoint branch, at 107 Norman Avenue. The innovative new space touts environmental sensibility integrated directly into the educational center, and is poised to receive LEED-Gold Certification.

TF Cornerstone’s Hunters Point South Skyscrapers Get Height Boost After Redesign

TF Cornerstone’s new Hunters Point South Towers are finally getting ready to rise. The developer acquired the site back in 2013, and there have been major alterations to initial plans, including a substantial height increase for the two towers, designed by ODA Architecture.

Permits Up, Renderings Revealed for 1769 Fort George Hill, Inwood, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 12-story mixed-use affordable housing facility at 1769 Fort George Hill, in Inwood. The structure would be an improvement from the site’s current situation. Residents have complained that the parking on the vacant lot has expanded without permits, and been used for commercial parking and a car wash. South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBro) will be responsible for the development.
