Second Farms Affordable Housing Development Nears Topping Out at 1932 Bryant Avenue in The Bronx

Construction is close to topping out at Second Farms, a new 15-story affordable housing development at 1932 Bryant Avenue in the West Farms neighborhood of The Bronx. With ardent support from local officials and community members, the project is part of a major redevelopment plan from the Archdiocese of New York City to modernize and reinvigorate West Farms, including the creation of up to 2,000 affordable and low-income housing properties.

Glass Façade Reaches 424-Foot Tall Pinnacle of 74 Trinity Place, in Financial District

The exterior glass curtain wall of 74 Trinity Place has reached its 424-foot tall roof parapet in the Financial District. The bronze-trimmed, 26-story superstructure stands directly behind Trinity Church and is being designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Trinity Real Estate. Stephen B. Jacobs Group is the executive architect of the 310,000-square-foot building.

Developer Piermont Properties has released the first renderings of a new, six-story multi-residential development at 188-11 Hillside Avenue in Hollis, Queens. Designed by Meltzer/Mandl Architects as a consultant for EDI International, the building will eventually comprise a mix of market-rate rental apartments, community-oriented facilities, and two levels of sub-grade parking.

Design firm Z Architecture has unveiled new renderings of its mixed-use residential development underway at 420 Gates Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. From developer Igal Reihanian of Tower Real Estate Investments, the property will eventually yield 44 apartment units, 7,000 square feet of lower-level community facilities, and a 22-vehicle parking garage.

Permits Filed for 450 Warren Street in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a five-story mixed-use building at 450 Warren Street in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Located between Bond Street and Nevins Street, the lot is two blocks east of the Bergen Street subway station, serviced by the F and G trains. Tankhouse, a New York-based design-development firm, is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Hunters Point Library Appears Ready For Long-Awaited Opening, in Long Island City

After four years of work, Hunter’s Point Library looks to be nearing full completion at 47-07 Center Boulevard in Long Island City. YIMBY last reported on the project back in December 2016, when a tour of the Steven Holl Architects-designed structure revealed spacious interiors, multi-story atriums, and stacked floor plates. Two and a half years later, the architecturally finished concrete walls and oversized abstract-shaped widows are complete, and the interiors also appear to be finished. Work on the surrounding landscape has yet to begin.
