Three-Story, 61,100-Square-Foot NYCHA Community Center Filed at 2920 West 23rd Street, Coney Island

The New York City Housing Authority has filed applications for a three-story, 61,143-square-foot community center on the grounds of the two-tower, 510-unit Gerald J. Carey Gardens public housing complex in Coney Island. The new building will be built at 2920 West 23rd Street, immediately north of the western tower. The 62-foot-tall facility will contain multi-purpose rooms, club rooms, play rooms, a basketball court, and a community garden. Nelligan White Architects is the architect of record. The site is currently a parking lot.

Construction is now underway on the seventh floor of the 12-story, 123-unit mixed-use building under development at 15 Lafayette Avenue, located on the corner of Ashland Place in Downtown Brooklyn. Progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums by Tectonic. The latest building permits state the project will measure 120,093 square feet and rise 138 feet to its main roof, not including the bulkhead.

Reveal for New York University’s 23-Story Mixed-Use Academic Facility Planned at 181 Mercer Street, Greenwich Village

Renderings of the final design have been revealed for New York University’s 23-story mixed-use building planned at 181 Mercer Street, located between West Houston and Bleecker streets in Greenwich Village. The academic facility, as YIMBY reported in October, will encompass 914,064 square feet and rise 275 feet in height, per the latest building applications, which the Buildings Department has not yet approved. Design firms KieranTimberlake and Davis Brody Bond are the architects.

UA Builders Group has filed applications for a seven-story, 26-unit mixed-use building at 1081 Tiffany Street, in the Longwood section of the South Bronx. The new building will encompass 20,905 square feet and include a 307-square-foot medical office on the ground floor. The residential units, located across the second through seventh floors, should average 657 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. There will also be eight off-street parking spaces, five of which will be housed on the ground floor. Mohammad R. Badaly’s Mount Vernon, N.Y.-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 64-foot-wide, 4,582-square-foot site is vacant.

Three-Story, Two-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 61-15 184th Street, Fresh Meadows

A Queens-based property owner has filed applications for a three-story, two-unit mixed-use building at 61-15 184th Street, in Fresh Meadows. The project will measure 8,000 square feet. Part of the ground and cellar levels will feature 1,202 square feet of retail space. In addition, a 1,502-square-foot children’s daycare center will also be located on the ground floor. Two full-floor residential units, averaging 1,000 square feet apiece, will occupy the two top floors. Flushing-based A&T Engineering is the applicant of record. The 4,000-square-foot site is occupied by a two-and-a-half-story house. Demolition permits were filed earlier this month.
