Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 53 East 51st Street in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. Located between Remsen Avenue and Rutland Road, the interior site is situated close to the major thoroughfare of Utica Avenue. The lot is also about five blocks south of the Lincoln Terrace / Arthur S. Somers Park. Less than eight blocks north is the Utica Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, and 4 trains. BIG’s Second Twisting Tower for “The XI” Begins Rapid Ascent Above The High Line in Chelsea, at 76 Eleventh Avenue

Since its first tower topped-out, The XI has been making steady progress, and now the project’s second residential building is starting to rise adjacent to The High Line. Designed using the same architectural language, the second tower’s twisting profile will compliment its larger sibling directly to the west. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, developed by HFZ Capital, and built by Omnibuild, the XI is located at 76 11th Avenue and is one of the newest additions to come to Chelsea’s High Line corridor.

Renderings Revealed for Affordable Housing at 223-227 Vermont Street, East New York, Brooklyn

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation will soon announce the development of a new four-story residential project in the northeast corner of East New York, Brooklyn. The three-block assemblage comprises 223, 225, and 227 Vermont Street, but is currently referred to by the DOB as 223-227 Vermont Street. Today, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for the renderings.

The proposed development will have six stories, with community facilities on the first floor and cellar level. Located between 102nd Street and 104th Street on Jamaica Avenue, the 104th Street subway station serviced by the J and Z trains is steps away from the residential project. Since the groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 4, 2018, NoMad’s future Ritz Carlton at 1185 Broadway has been making rapid progress. Excavation for the imminently 40-story and 580-foot-tall skyscraper has almost been finished, and rebar from the foundation walls is already poking up above street level. Designed by renowned architect Rafael Vinoly, Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties are the developers, while Yabu Pushelberg is the interior designer for the $500 million project.

New Renderings Revealed for EVE NYC As Leasing Readies for Launch, at 433 East 13th Street in the East Village

EVE NYC, a new residential development in Manhattan’s East Village at 433 East 13th Street and 432 East 14th Street, is now in the final phases of construction. YIMBY has the exclusive look at a new set of renderings for the project, which is expected to begin leasing this month.

Back in November, YIMBY reported on demolition permits for three adjacent four-story buildings at the corner of 120-124 Lexington Avenue, in Kips Bay, Manhattan. New construction permits have now been filed for a 10-story mixed-use building at 120 Lexington Avenue. The site, between 28th and 29th streets, is located one block east of the 28th Street subway station, serviced by the 6 train. Four blocks away is Madison Square Park. Daniel Dabakaroff of Skyland Management is listed as the owner behind the applications.

NoMad’s First Planned Supertall At 262 Fifth Avenue Appears Stalled, in Midtown Manhattan

Situated at the southwestern corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street is the site of a proposed 1,009-foot condominium tower, known as 262 Fifth Avenue. Renderings were first released in late 2017, showing the very skinny and slender residential building towering over NoMad and Midtown South. Composed of a mix of glass and aluminum walls, the supertall would certainly stand out on the skyline for its height and profile. After the DOB approved plans back in October of 2017, the site was quickly cleared of the previously extant low-rise buildings, however, activity has come to a grinding halt since then. Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development is developing the tower, while the architect is Meganom, a Russian design firm from Moscow.
