Developers have long avoided building under the elevated tracks in Bushwick, but the lure of cheaper property not far from Williamsburg has pulled in buyers looking to cash in on the neighborhood’s swiftly rising rents. And so someone has filed plans to build five three-story townhouses at 75-83 Suydam Street, a wedge-shaped corner lot in the shadow of the clattering M train tracks on Myrtle Avenue.
The new Census estimates show New York City’s population swelling to 8,491,079 people, a 52,700-person increase from the 2013 estimates (which were also revised upwards, or the increase would have been an even larger 85,242 people). Those numbers are up from a 2010 Census baseline of 8,175,133 people.
