This week The Doe Fund broke ground on a six-story transitional housing development at 510 Gates Avenue in Brooklyn. Located in Bedford Stuyvesant next to the organization’s first transitional residence, which opened in 1990, the residential building will provide men experiencing homelessness with 200 beds and with the opportunity to join The Doe Fund’s award-winning Ready Willing & Able reentry program. The 44,658-square-foot 510 Gates is designed by Urban Architectural Initiatives and developed by Bolivar Builders and Round Square Development.

Construction is quickly progressing on 26-32 Jackson Avenue, aka The Italic, a 49-story residential skyscraper rising in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by American Lions, a joint venture between Fetner Properties and NY Lions Group, the ground-up 526-foot-tall structure will yield 384,043 square feet with 19,923 square feet of commercial space and 363 rental units ranging from studios to three-bedroom layouts with 109 units allocated towards affordable housing. Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Dutch Kills Street and an elevated roadway of the Queensboro Bridge to the northeast and Purves Street to the southwest.

This week crews poured the final floor on the 19-story new residential development at 159 Boerum Street in Brooklyn’s East Williamsburg neighborhood. Developed by Slate Property Group in partnership with Avenue Realty Capital and SD Builders and Construction LLC, the 216-foot-tall structure will yield 116,000 square feet and 162 units when complete with 49 apartments designated as affordable housing.
