Dattner Architects Reveals Plans for Historic Empire State Dairy Building in East New York, Brooklyn

Proposals to expand and redevelop the historic Empire State Dairy Building in East New York, Brooklyn are now in review by the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission. Located at 2840 Atlantic Avenue, the proposed development from Bushburg Properties includes an extensive restoration of the building’s poorly maintained façade, partial demolition of two adjacent structures, and a new 14-story residential tower that cantilevers above the Empire State Dairy Building, an official New York City landmark.

Exterior Work on 25 Great Jones Nearing Completion in NoHo

Work on 25 Great Jones Street, aka 22 Bond Street, is another step closer to completion. This will be a new 11-story condominium project in the NoHo neighborhood. It is located on a thin rectangular parcel of land that spans between Great Jones Street and Bond Street. BKSK Architects is the designer while Second Development Services and Richport Group are the two developers. The exterior glass on the northern elevation is finished while the first segments of the dark-colored steel fins on the upper floors of the building have begun installation. A total of six units will begin at $9.8 million with the penthouse reportedly set to span about 4,000 square feet.

The Spiral’s First Steel Column Dedicated at 66 Hudson Boulevard, in Hudson Yards

Recently developer Tishman Speyer held a dedication ceremony to install the first steel column at the site of 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. A number of people signed the white-colored steel beam before it was raised into place, marking a major step in the construction process for the upcoming supertall office building. The 2.85-million-square-foot structure is located in Hudson Yards and will be designed by Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Turner Construction Company is the construction manager while Banker Steel is in charge of fabricating the steel for the 65-story tower.

Work Completed at Gene Kaufman Architect’s ML House at 1050 Sixth Avenue, in Midtown

Work has completed at 1050 Sixth Avenue, a 24-story building designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Skyline Developers. Called ML House, it sits to the south of Bryant Park by the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 40th Street. The tower is fully enclosed and features 62 studio to two-bedroom units that are now 50 percent leased. This is the only ground-up residential rental building surrounding Bryant Park.
