20-Story Office Building At 34 East 51st Street Readied For January Opening, Midtown

Back in January of 2014, YIMBY brought you a construction update on the 20-story, 75,000 square-foot office building planned at 34 East 51st Street, in Midtown, and later that month, we brought you a rendering. Today, the building is structurally complete and preparing for a January 2016 opening date, according to Crain’s. The boutique office property’s floors range from 2,700 to 5,000 square feet, and it also has club-like amenities, with the overall setup geared towards smaller office tenants. Istanbul-based developer Sedesco is behind the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed project.

Construction Update: Essex Crossing Chugs Along On The Lower East Side

When completed, Essex Crossing will be a big deal for the Lower East Side. The multi-building project is on the former Seward Park Urban Renewal Area, and will have several residential structures, as well as commercial amenities galore – from a new Essex Street Market to a Regal Cinema, a bowling alley to a medical center, gardens both beer and regular, office space, and more. Besides a few huge residential developments in St. George and Stapleton, most new construction on Staten Island consists of one- and two-family homes. But on Monday, YIMBY noticed an unusual filing for a five-story commercial project at 21 Sylvation Terrace, in a relatively forlorn and industrial piece of the North Shore.

Boston Properties Plans WeWork’s 17-Story Office Building at the Navy Yard, 63 Flushing Avenue

In July, YIMBY unveiled renderings of WeWork’s planned office building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Now developer Boston Properties has filed new building applications for the project, named Dock 72, at 63 Flushing Avenue.

At Long Last, EŌS at 855 Sixth Avenue is Nearing Completion

After nearly a decade of anticipation, false starts and design changes, 855 6th Avenue is nearing completion. The 479-foot-tall tower has finally taken its place on the burgeoning Midtown South skyline, and upon completion it will fill the missing link between Herald Square to the north and the hybrid Chelsea/NoMad district to the south. The Durst Organization is developing the 41 story mixed-use project, which consists of significant residential, retail, and office components.

30 Hudson Yards Gets New Renderings

Related Companies and Oxford Properties have signed private equity firm KKR & Co. for their 90-story office tower at 30 Hudson Yards, and they’ve sent out some new renderings of the building to highlight the announcement.

Renderings Of 10-Story, 260,000 Square-Foot Office Conversion At 41 Flatbush Avenue, DoBro

Last March, Quinlan Development Group, along with Building & Land Technology, purchased the 10-story commercial building turned storage facility at 41 Flatbush Avenue, in Downtown Brooklyn, for $89.4 million, and now Commercial Observer has the first glimpse of the property’s planned office conversion. The building measures 260,866 square feet, and retail space will span the ground floor while offices will spread across the remainder. Interior spaces feature 13-foot-high, terra cotta-clad ceilings, and the exterior façade will be limestone. A rooftop deck is also indicated in the Schedule A, and Beyer Blinder Belle is the architect of record.

Reveal For Conversion Of Eight-Story Correctional Facility At 550 West 20th Street, West Chelsea

Back in February of 2014, a number of developers toured the former Bayview Correctional Facility, an eight-story, 100,000 square-foot complex, at 550 West 20th Street, in West Chelsea, after the city issued a request for proposals just months earlier. Now, Empire State Development has awarded NoVo Foundation a 99-year lease to redevelop the property, according to Commercial Observer. NoVo Foundations and the Goren Group plan to transform the building into the Women’s Building, which will house a women’s rights organization. The project will include community space, art installations, and a restaurant.

Properties At 285 North 6th Street & 10-27 46th Avenue Slated for Office Conversions, Williamsburg & LIC

Eric Gural has acquired the five-story, 40,000 square-foot former warehouse at 285 North 6th Street, in Williamsburg, for $15.6 million, according to Crain’s. He also purchased the four-story, 70,000 square-foot former industrial building at 10-27 46th Avenue, in Long Island City, for $14.25 million. Both properties are set to undergo office conversions. Work on the Williamsburg property is expected to begin in the coming weeks, and includes a restaurant and roof deck. As for the Queens project, work will begin once the current leases expire late next year.

New Renderings Show Fresh Views of One Vanderbilt

SL Green’s planned tower next to Grand Central is making significant headway, and demolition for the site’s former buildings is already ongoing. And while we had previously revealed several prospective views of the 1,500-foot supertall, which was approved by the City Council this past May, a tipster has sent along a few more renderings, giving a more comprehensive overview of the tower within the context of its Midtown surrounds.
