Glass Addition Takes Shape Atop 44 Union Square

Designed with a symmetrically curvilinear space frame with triangular-shaped glass panels, construction progresses on the new addition at 44 Union Square. When completed, this contemporary addition will create two new floors that overlook Union Square. The total square footage of the 90-year-old landmarked mixed-use building will increase to 70,348 square feet. BKSK Architects is the designer, while Edifice Real Estate Partners is developing the property. CNY Group is in charge of the construction and renovations.

Exterior Curtain Wall of The Wheeler Progresses at 181 Livingston Street, in Downtown Brooklyn

Located at 181 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn, progress continues for The Wheeler. The entire project will merge a 19th century and an Art Deco building with a new 14-story glass tower, designed by Perkins Eastman and Shimoda Design Group. The new wing will rise 256 feet tall, and yield 843,830 square feet of new commercial space, while the original Macy’s will occupy the lower four floors. Offices will take up the remaining 90,000 square feet, featuring 16-foot tall ceiling heights. Tishman Speyer is the developer.

Work Nears Completion on 540 West 25th Street in West Chelsea

When we last checked in on the site of 540 West 25th Street, the building had just topped out. The steel structure and metal decking was still mostly exposed. Now with the curtain wall installed, the new 60,000 square foot project is closer to completion. This will be the new headquarters for Pace Gallery, providing eight stories of gallery spaces, private viewing rooms, offices, and a library. The 135-foot tall building is designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Studio and developed by Weinberg Properties. Pace Gallery’s existing spaces are currently located at 508 & 510 West 25th Street next to the High Line.
