Checking In On The Facade Renovation at 388-390 Greenwich Street, Tribeca

Across from Piers 25 & 26, 388-390 Greenwich Street has stood for nearly 30 years as one of the tallest skyscrapers in Tribeca. Located just north of the Borough of Manhattan Community College, it is has been home to Citigroup’s New York headquarters since their repurchase of the building in 2016, after selling to SL Green for $1.6 billion back in 2007. The 39-story tower at 388 Greenwich Street sits connected to an adjacent nine-story building at 390 Greenwich Street, which Citigroup has also leased. Both components are in the midst of a major renovation of the lower exterior facades, led by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with interior architecture by Gensler.

DXA Studio’s Jordan Rogove Discusses LPC’s Approval of 827-831 Broadway, Union Square

For a third time, DXA Studio approached the Landmark Preservation Commission with a proposed design for 827-831 Broadway, a landmarked building in the Union Square area. The latest design is a large departure from the faceted glass of previous proposals. Several major alterations have occurred to drastically change the entire project to appease the LPC, ultimately leading to approval this past Tuesday.

Excavation Wraps for Foster + Partners’ 50 Hudson Yards as Foundation Work Begins

Excavation at 50 Hudson Yards is nearing completion, and thanks to an aerial by Archartdescon, we can see that foundation work has also now commenced. Construction is advancing with incredible speed, and most of the site has been cleared since YIMBY’s last report in November. The pace isn’t too surprising when one considers the several excavators operating simultaneously. Related Companies is responsible for the Hudson Yards development.
