Finishing Touches Underway on Google Headquarters at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Finishing touches are wrapping up on Google’s new 12-story headquarters at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Oxford Properties, the 1.3-million-square-foot project involved the restoration and 232-foot vertical expansion of the St. John’s Terminal building along the Hudson River waterfront. The structure will serve as the centerpiece of the sprawling 1.7-million-square-foot “Googleplex” master plan along with 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street. Gensler is the interior designer and Turner Construction was the general contractor for the property, which spans two full city blocks between West Street, West Houston Street, Washington Street, and the New York Department of Sanitation building to the south.

Façade installation nears completion on The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters, a 22-story building at Four Hudson Square in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Silverstein Properties, the 338-foot-tall structure will yield 1.2 million square feet of offices, film and production studios, and ground-floor retail. Lendlease is the general contractor for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 137 Varick Street and occupies a full city block bound by Vandam Street to the north, Spring Street to the south, Varick Street to the east, and Hudson Street to the west.

Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital, the project consists of the restoration of a row of a landmarked townhomes and the construction of a new office volume above. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Wildflower Studios’s Façade Begins Installation at 35-15 19th Avenue in Astoria, Queens

Façade installation is progressing on Wildflower Studios, a seven-story film production studio at 35-15 19th Avenue in Astoria, Queens. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Wildflower LTD, a venture backed by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, and his son Raphael De Niro, the 145-foot-tall structure will yield 775,042 square feet with sound stages, 11 studio modules, production support areas, public and private offices, a fitness center, multiple lounges, two open-air terraces, and a 20-foot-wide public waterfront esplanade along Luyster Creek. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the $600 million project, which is being built on a 229,000-square-foot plot by the intersection of 19th Avenue and 38th Street, next to the Steinway & Sons piano warehouse.
