Construction is moving along quickly at 30 East 31st Street, in Midtown South, Manhattan. Builders are working on the 40-story high-rise, which will yield views of the Empire State Building and East River. YIMBY has reported on 200 Amsterdam Avenue extensively, revealing renderings back in 2016 and then covering the start of excavation in October. Since then, Extell’s 50 West 66th Street has upstaged it as the soon-to-be tallest on the Upper West Side, but SJP Properties’ 55-story and 669-foot-tall contribution to the skyline will still be extremely impressive in its own right. Today, we have a new set of renderings that give a clearer picture of the actual skyscraper, and a close-up of its crown.
Demolition permits have been filed for the five-story building at 126 Madison Avenue, in Midtown South, Manhattan. The site will become a commercial extension of 15 East 30th Street, a residential high-rise. Photos show construction is moving along for the project, which will top out at 51 stories.
YIMBY has covered 130 William Street extensively, from back when preliminary permits were first filed in 2015, to the recent start of foundation work. Now, the building has seen another design shift, with new renderings by architect David Adjaye revealing a substantial transformation to the exterior as compared to the most recent images. The 61-story tower is being developed by Lightstone, and is just about ready to start rising above ground level.
Yesterday, construction topped-out on the TWA Hotel, which flanks the famous TWA Flight Center designed by Eero Saarinen at JFK Airport. This news comes almost exactly a year after the groundbreaking ceremony, held with Governor Andrew Cuomo on December 15th, 2016. The hotel creates 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space, as well as eight restaurants and six bars. 10,000 square feet of observation space will be made available to the public.
