Renderings Revealed of New Ferry Landings For Citywide Ferry Service Project

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has revealed new details and renderings of the ferry landings that will be built as part of the Citywide Ferry Service project. Ten new ferry landings will be built and six new ferry lines will be introduced, bringing service to Soundview in the Bronx, the Upper East Side, Lower Manhattan, Long Island City/Astoria, to multiple locations up and down Brooklyn, Governors Island, and finally the Rockaways in Queens, Untapped Cities reports. Many of the ferry lines will terminate at either the existing Wall Street-Pier 11 or East River-34th Street landings. The new landings will measure 35-feet-wide and 90-feet-long, and will feature canopies and wind screens. The routes are expected to open in 2017 and 2018 in phases. McLaren Engineering Group is designing, and Skanska will build the landings.

Eight-Story, 24,000-Square-Foot Medical Office Building Filed at 876 60th Street, Sunset Park

Junhong Zhu, doing business as an anonymous Brooklyn-based LLC, has filed applications for an eight-story, 24,033-square-foot medical building at 876 60th Street, in southern Sunset Park, located two blocks from the Eight Avenue stop on the N train. The project will feature 19,160 square feet of medical offices, plus a daycare facility located on the cellar level. Lower Manhattan-based Chi F. Lau is the architect of record. The development assemblage include two 20-foot-wide, three-story apartment buildings. Demolition permits were filed in February to knock them down.

13-Story, 188-Unit All-Affordable Residential Building Planned At 401 Dumont Avenue, Brownsville

In addition to projects in Fort Greene and Mott Haven, the New York City Housing Authority has released plans for a 13-story, 188-unit all-affordable residential building at approximately 401 Dumont Avenue, located within the Van Dyke Houses complex in Brownsville. The new building, being dubbed Dumont Commons, will rent at below-market rates to individuals and families making 30 to 60 percent of area median income (AMI), according to the New York Times. The project will include an urgent care medical facility, a wellness center, and a daycare-like community facility. Dunn Development is the developer and has ground-lease the site, currently a parking lot, from the city for 60 years. Construction is expected to begin in 2017.

Three-Story, Six-Unit Residential Building Planned at 190 East 7th Street, Kensington

Bay Ridge-based EM Development has filed applications for a three-story, six-unit residential building at 190 East 7th Street, in northern Kensington, located four blocks from the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop on the F/G train. The structure will measure 9,400 square feet, and its residential units should average 1,177 square feet apiece, indicative of condominiums. The apartments will be evenly spaced throughout the building, with each floor hosting two units. There will also be five surface parking spaces, probably located behind the building. Paul Lombardi’s Brooklyn-based Design Studio Associates is the architect of record. The 56-foot-wide lot is currently occupied by a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed house.

Four-Story, Two-Unit Residential Project Planned at 102 West 131st Street, Harlem

Atomatic Contracting Inc. has filed applications for a four-story, two-unit residential building at 102 West 131st Street, in Harlem. The 5,272-square-foot building will rise on a 16-foot-wide, 1,665-square-foot vacant lot. One of the apartments will be located on the ground floor, while the second will take up the second through fourth floors. With the residential space divided as such, the ground-floor unit would measure roughly 1,055 square feet, and the larger unit would measure 3,164 square feet, which means condominiums would be in the works. Sion Hourizadeh’s Floral Park-based Sion Associates is the applicant of record.
