Renderings from Xenolith Partners and Alexander Gorlin Architects reveal a new eight-story building at 760 Soundview Avenue in Soundview, The Bronx. The parcel is currently in pre-construction, but will eventually replace the Soundview Presbyterian Church with a mix of rental apartments, an updated chapel building, and a community facility.
Demolition work has stalled at 570 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn, the site of a proposed 550-foot-tall skyscraper designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Slate Property Group. Scaffolding and blue netting still shroud the main façade of the existing building, and it appears that little progress has been made since YIMBY’s January visit. As planned, the new development would yield a mixture of market-rate apartments, affordable housing, retail, and small-scale office space.
The reinforced concrete superstructure of 18 Sixth Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper, has begun ascending in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed in a joint venture between The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 500-plus-foot-tall building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The project will be the tallest structure in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan.
The Cove at 43-12 Hunter Street sits in the middle of Long Island City, Queens. The detailed grey-colored curtain wall of windows and metal panels cover the entire 18-story, reinforced concrete edifice. Right now the final touches remain on the ground-floor envelope, sidewalk, and interiors. SLCE Architects is the designer of the building and Slade Architecture is in charge of the interior design. Rockrose Development is the developer of the triangular site, which was previously purchased for $1 million back in 2006. The Cove will yield 123 rental units with 37 units being affordable homes, or roughly 30 percent of the total inventory.
Construction nears completion at 22-44 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens, a two-tower residential development on the plot of the famous 5Pointz graffiti warehouse. The 1.21-million-square-foot complex is designed by HTO Architects and developed by G&M Realty. Mojo Stumer Associates is designing the buildings’ interiors, which will feature artistic homages to the site’s past.
