227 West Street’s Stepped and Cantilevering Towers Top Out in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 227 West Street, a pair of 30- and 40-story residential towers in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by OMA with Beyer Blinder Belle as the architect of record and developed by Brookfield Property Partners and Park Tower Group, the 450- and 351-foot tall towers are part of the 22-acre Greenpoint Landing development along the East River. James Corner Field Operations is the landscape architect, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer, Thornton Tomasetti is the façade consultant, and Highbury Concrete is responsible for building the superstructures.

The 83,811-square-foot development was designed by EQ Architecture And Design, and yields 107 supportive housing units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 41 units for residents at 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $31,406 to $57,300.

City Council Unanimously Approves Contested Development at 737 Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

The New York City Council has unanimously approved zoning text amendments to facilitate the construction of a new mixed-use development at 737 Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The proposed project will create 134 rental apartments, ground-floor retail, and publicly accessible car and bicycle parking.

Façade Work Progresses on Parcel G in Hunters Point South, Queens

Façade work is progressing on the topped-out superstructure of “Parcel G,” a 34-story tower in Hunters Point South, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the building will yield 443 residential units, of which a portion will be dedicated to affordable housing, as well as a lower-level community facility for Flux Factory and for kayak rentals. The site is located by the intersection of 2nd Street and 56th Avenue.

Handel Architects’ 58-Story ‘Parcel F’ Begins Vertical Ascent Over Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is rising rapidly on “Parcel F,” a 58-story residential skyscraper in Hunters Point South, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the structure will yield 689 residential units alongside Parcel G, its 34-story, 443-unit sibling. A low-rise grade school building will be located in the middle of the complex, which is situated on the southern tip of the Hunters Point peninsula at the confluence of the East River and Newton Creek. Parcel F is bound by Center Boulevard to the north, 56th Avenue to the east, 57th Avenue to the west, and is rising above Hunters Point South Park Extension.

Department of City Planning Review Proposals to Construct Glenmore Manor in Brownsville, Brooklyn

The Department of City Planning recently reviewed and assessed proposals to construct Glenmore Manor, a ground-up affordable housing development in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Located at the intersection of Christopher and Glenmore Avenues, the development is one of several residential components in the Brownsville Plan, an initiative to revitalize and invigorate the surrounding area.
