YIMBY’s “30 Tallest” Countdown to 2019 Begins With Update on 670-Foot-Tall Seaport Residences, in Lower Manhattan

In the lead-up to 2019, YIMBY will be checking in on each of the Five Borough’s 30 tallest towers currently under construction. Standing at the bottom of the list is One Seaport, aka 161 Maiden Lane, which is a notable presence on the Lower Manhattan skyline when seen from the Brooklyn Bridge, or any view facing west towards the Seaport District. The slender new 60-story and 670-foot-tall residential skyscraper recently topped-out, and curtain wall installation is making substantial headway. Spanning 200,000 square feet, the project is being designed by Hill West Architects, developed by Fortis Property Group, LLC and constructed by Pizzarotti LLC. The interiors are being designed by Groves & Co. Sales and marketing are being carried out by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing.

420 Kent Avenue’s 857 New Apartments Nearing Full Completion Along Williamsburg’s East River Waterfront

420 Kent Avenue‘s triplet of glass-covered residential towers rising next to each other along the East River waterfront in Williamsburg are nearing completion, with facade installation nearly finished. Designed by ODA New York and developed by Spitzer Enterprises, recent photos by YIMBY followers show the site’s substantial progress. The development is located to the south of the Williamsburg Bridge, along Kent Avenue between Broadway and South 9th Street.

Site Work Commences for Bjarke Ingels-Designed “29th & 5th” at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad, Manhattan

Known simply as “29th & 5th,” the site for BIG’s proposed NoMad skyscraper is located at 3 West 29th Street, several blocks south of the Empire State Building, in Midtown Manhattan. The future office tower will eventually rise 34 stories and 551 feet tall, making it stand out amongst the local vicinity. Covering 300,000 square feet, it incorporates a mix of a glass curtain wall on the eastern facade with staggered open terraces for workers to step out and see the views of the skyline. HFZ Capital Group is the developer of the upcoming project.

Exclusive: The Vandewater Tops-Out 385 Feet Above Morningside Heights at 543 West 122nd Street

Standing north of Columbia University at 543 West 122nd Street, behind the Jewish Theological Seminary, is the new residential tower dubbed “Vandewater”. Located in Morningside Heights, which was originally called Vandewater Heights, the new 385-foot-tall building will come with over 300,000 square feet of space, and 183 condominiums spread over 33 floors. SLCE Architects is the executive architect while Incorporated Architecture & Design is the designer for the project. Savanna is the project’s developer, while Halstead Property Development Marketing is handling sales.

“Trinity Commons” Officially Tops-Out 424 Feet Above The Financial District at 74 Trinity Place

Steel construction of 74 Trinity Place has topped-out over the Financial District less than a year after work rose above ground level. The new 26-story, 424-foot-tall office building is designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, with Stephen B. Jacobs Group serving as executive architect. The developer is Trinity Real Estate. The total scope of the new tower is around 310,000 square feet, and offices start on the seventh floor. The last piece of steel went up last week in a topping out ceremony hosted by the developers.
