Excavation work is progressing at 151-165 Broome Street, the site of a two-building affordable housing complex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Grand Street Guild Housing Development Fund Company, Grand Street Guild East Housing Development Fund Company, Southeast Grand Street Guild Housing Development Fund Company, and Clinton Broome Development LLC, the project consists of the 15-story “Building 3-5” at 165 Broome Street and 16-story “Building 3-6” at 151 Broome Street, and will yield a combined total of 480 units. Monadnock Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located within the Seward Park Extension master plan and bound by Broome Street to the north, Pitt Street to the east, and Clinton Street to the west.

55 Suffolk Street’s Brick Façade Nears Completion on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Façade installation is finishing up on 55 Suffolk Street, a 30-story residential tower in the two-building Broome Street Development complex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the 310-foot-tall structure stands directly to the east of The Norfolk Senior Housing Building, its 16-story sibling at 64 Norfolk Street. The complex rises from a shared podium and will yield a combined 387,223 square feet with 493 rental units, of which 43 percent will be dedicated to permanently affordable housing. Monadnock Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Suffolk and Norfolk Streets.

Exterior work is nearing the finish line on 222 E. Broadway, a 28-story residential tower on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by SLCE Architects with S4Architecture designing the facade, and developed by Optimum Asset Management, the 84,271-square-foot structure will yield 70 units in studio to four-bedroom layouts, with an average scope of 1,397 square feet apiece and interiors by Paris Forino. 222 E. Broadway is located by the corner of E. Broadway and Clinton Street. Cantor Pecorella is handling sales and marketing.

Finishing touches are wrapping up on the Virgin Hotel, a 38-story tower at 1225 Broadway in NoMad. Designed by Stantec and developed by Lam Group, the 476-foot-tall structure will yield 300,000 square feet with 460 rooms managed by Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group. Flintlock Construction Systems is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 30th Street, a short walk from Koreatown and the Flatiron District.
