Urban League Empowerment Center Nears Completion at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on the Urban League Empowerment Center, a 17-story mixed-use building at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners, the 414-000-square-foot structure will yield 170 affordable housing units, 70,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail area including a Target and a 28,000-square-foot Trader Joe’s on the ground floor. The development will serve as the home for the National Urban League and the Urban Civil Rights Experience Museum. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 126th Street to the north, 125th Street to the south, Malcolm X Boulevard to the east, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to the west.

KSK Construction Group is the general contractor and 219 JSP LLC is the owner of the property, which is alternately addressed as 219 Jay Street and bound by Concord Street to the north, Chapel Street to the south, and Jay Street to the west.

Renderings Revealed for Sunset Pier 94 Studios on Hell’s Kitchen Waterfront, Manhattan

Renderings have been revealed for Sunset Pier 94 Studios, Manhattan’s first film and TV production studio, on the western edge of Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Gensler and developed by Vornado Realty Trust in a public-private partnership with Hudson Pacific Properties, Blackstone, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the 266,000-square-foot structure will take shape along the Hudson River waterfront on a parcel long slated for redevelopment. Hudson Pacific Properties will manage leasing and operations and provide design oversight, and RBC and Ivanhoe Cambridge are providing $183 million in construction financing for the project, which is located directly across from DeWitt Clinton Park between West 52nd and West 54th Streets.

Façade installation has begun on 520 Fifth Avenue, a rising 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 415,000 square feet with 100 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. Charles & Co. is going to be the interior designer, WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.
