Foundation Work Making Steady Progress for Brooklyn’s First Supertall at 9 Dekalb Avenue, in Downtown Brooklyn

As seen through the green construction netting on-site, large hollow steel pilings are now sitting in the cold weather waiting to be driven into the ground by two piling machines at 9 DeKalb Avenue. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development and the Chetrit Group, excavation and foundation work for the 1,066-foot-tall supertall is making steady headway in Downtown Brooklyn.

70-74 Gansevoort Street Begins to Rise Above The Meatpacking District

Recent photos of 70-74 Gansevoort Street show the commercial development beginning its vertical ascent over the Meatpacking District. Located along Gansevoort Street, this is one of several buildings among the Gansevoort Street redevelopment project that spans the length between Washington Street and Greenwich Street. Set to stand roughly 112 feet tall, it is being designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Aurora Capital and William Gottlieb Real Estate.

Work Nears Completion on 540 West 25th Street in West Chelsea

When we last checked in on the site of 540 West 25th Street, the building had just topped out. The steel structure and metal decking was still mostly exposed. Now with the curtain wall installed, the new 60,000 square foot project is closer to completion. This will be the new headquarters for Pace Gallery, providing eight stories of gallery spaces, private viewing rooms, offices, and a library. The 135-foot tall building is designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Studio and developed by Weinberg Properties. Pace Gallery’s existing spaces are currently located at 508 & 510 West 25th Street next to the High Line.

Work Wraps Up on 515 West 36th Street in Hudson Yards

Standing 38 stories above Hudson Park is 515 West 36th Street. After excavation and foundation work began in 2016, the new mixed-use building now rises 418 feet. Located between the northern tip of Hudson Boulevard East and 10th Avenue, the site is a little over 328,000 square feet of newly built space. The reinforced concrete structure topped out in the summer of 2017 and is now fully enclosed in a reflective glass curtain wall. Ismael Leyva Architects is the designer, with Lalezarian Properties as the developer.

Kohn Pedersen Fox’s 17-Story Addition at 441 Ninth Avenue Progresses Above Midtown

Standing one block away from the Manhattan West complex is 441 Ninth Avenue. Located between 34th Street and 35th Street, the site sits among a hive of construction projects that have since sprouted in this section of Midtown. The mixed-use project will soon consist of a new 17-story addition above an existing eight-story 57-year-old building. There will be several retail spaces on the ground floor, as well as office and commercial space above. Cove Property and Baupost Group are the developers of the 700,000 square foot project, named “Hudson Commons.” Kohn Pedersen Fox is in charge of the design for the new extension.
