Journal Squared’s Second and Tallest Tower Tops Out in Jersey City

Construction has topped out on 537 Summit Avenue, the second and tallest building in the three-tower Journal Squared complex in Jersey City. Despite its location across the Hudson River from New York, the 754-foot-tall reinforced concrete skyscraper’s prominent height earns it inclusion at the number-24 spot in YIMBY’s countdown of the tallest current projects in the city. Designed by HWKN/Hollwich Kushner and Handel Architects and developed by Kushner Real Estate Group, the tower stands dominantly over its shorter 563-foot-tall, 53-story sibling.

Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, Passes the Halfway Mark in Long Island City

Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, is the 25th building on our annual countdown of the tallest projects underway in New York. Construction has passed the halfway point on the 755-foot-tall residential skyscraper, which is located at 27-29 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City. Meanwhile, the curved reflective glass curtain wall is rapidly ascending the 67-story reinforced concrete superstructure. Handel Architects is the designer and The Durst Organization is the developer of the project, which is also addressed as 29-37 41st AvenueSelldorf Architects is the interior designer.

Brooklyn Point Nears Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

Work is nearing completion on Extell’s Brooklyn Point, number 26 on YIMBY’s countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the city. The 68-story, 720-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed as 138 Willoughby Street, is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and is part of the third and final phase of the City Point complex in Downtown BrooklynSLCE Architects is serving as the architect of record, while Katherine Newman is designing the interior spaces. A total of 458 units, ranging from studio to three-bedroom units, will be created.

25 Park Row Set to Open Next Spring in Financial District

25 Park Row‘s curtain wall is continuing to rise and wrap around the balconies and upper floors of the 702-foot-tall Financial District skyscraper, the 27th tallest structure in our annual YIMBY countdown. The 50-story mixed-use project is designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by L+M Development Partners, along with the family behind J&R Music World. Sales for the 110 residences are ongoing and are being handled by Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group.
