The yellow safety cocoon has been installed around the perimeter of the floor plates at 430 East 58th Street, aka 3 Sutton Place, as construction of the 800-foot-tall skyscraper rises above Midtown East. Located between Sutton Place South and First Avenue, the formwork has surpassed the parapets of the adjacent buildings and is cantilevered out over the structure’s eastern neighbor. The project is being designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen and developed by Gamma Real Estate. Stephen B. Jacobs Group is the executive architect on the project.

232 East 54th Street Tops Out at 420 Feet in Midtown East

Construction at 232 East 54th Street has topped out. The structure stands 420 feet tall above Midtown East and is being designed by Ismael Leyva Architects. YIMBY last reported that Elk Investors was listed as the exclusive developer of the building, but ownership may have fully transferred to Mossanen Group and an LLC known as East 54th St. Properties. The tower was originally slated to only rise around 20 stories, but this scope was doubled to 40.

YIMBY got a sneak peek of the views from One Vanderbilt‘s future three-story, indoor and outdoor observatory, which is situated 1,020 feet above Midtown East. The upcoming 77-story supertall office skyscraper is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green. The tapering steel structure will soon terminate in a staggered, illuminated crown topped with an architectural spire that will push the project’s total height to 1,401 feet.

Scaffolding Comes Down on The Warehouse at 520 West 20th Street in Chelsea

Work is getting nearer to completion at The Warehouse, aka 520 West 20th Street, a mixed-use office development in West Chelsea. Located between West 19th and West 20th Street in close proximity to the High Line, the project is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Elijah Equities. The 50-foot-tall brick section that makes up the bottom portion of the superstructure is finally being revealed with the disassembly of the white netting and scaffolding, while construction of the cantilevering steel structure that sits above it has topped out, bringing the total height to 105 feet tall.

220 Central Park South Pulls Permits For Residents-Only Jean Georges Restaurant

The amenity list for 220 Central Park South just landed a compelling addition. Jean Georges Vongerichten will manage a 54-seat, residents-only restaurant on the second floor of the Midtown residential skyscraper. The 67-story tower is designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and contains 593,000 square feet of interior space. Vornado Realty Trust is the developer of the $1.4-billion-dollar project and expects a $3.4 billion sellout.
