Construction Wraps on Pendry Hotel at Four Manhattan West in Midtown West

Construction is now complete on the Pendry Manhattan West Hotel, a 281-foot-tall mixed-use structure at Four Manhattan West in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the 21-story project makes up one of five separate buildings in the Manhattan West master plan, which sits directly across Tenth Avenue from Hudson Yards. The property is located along West 33rd Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, wedged between One Manhattan West and Five Manhattan West, and will yield 164 guest rooms as well as condominiums on the upper levels.

Demolition for 27-Story Hotel Awaits Progress at 777 Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Demolition could begin soon at 777 Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, where a 27-story hotel has been proposed. From the prolific architect-developer duo of Gene Kaufman Architect and McSam Hotel Group, as well as additional owner TSGL 8th Avenue LLC, the building will rise from a 5,000-square-foot plot on the west side of the block between West 47th and 48th Streets, not far from Times Square.

New Renderings Reveal ‘The Set’ at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards

New renderings from Handel Architects reveal The Set, a 587-foot-tall residential skyscraper under construction at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies, the 45-story structure is rising from a 17,280-square-foot L-shaped lot at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 35th Street, directly to the north of Bjarke Ingels‘ 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. Though it’s unclear which final form the building will take in terms of color palette, the renderings are likely a good indication of what’s to come for the reinforced concrete edifice that’s already several floors above street level.

Façade Work Progresses on The Westerly at 441 West 37th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

441 West 37th Street has structurally topped out since our last update back in early March. The 11-story mixed-use residential building, called The Westerley, is found in Midtown, Manhattan between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. Happy Living Development is developing the seven-unit property with DLJU Architects as the architect of record. Adele Schachner Architecture + Interiors is serving as the interior designer. Full-floor two-bedroom units will begin at $1.7 million.

Santiago Calatrava’s St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Continues to Take Shape in the Financial District

Work is continuing on Santiago Calatrava‘s St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in the Financial District. Located by the intersection of Greenwich Street and Liberty Street in the elevated Liberty Park, the structure will serve as the new home for the long-established church that was formerly located at 155 Cedar Street until it was destroyed on 9/11. Calatrava’s architectural concept for the church was inspired by Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia and Church of the Holy Savior of Chora. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is developing the project, which sits directly to the south of the original 16-acre World Trade Center complex.
