Façade installation is nearing completion on The Westly, a 20-story residential building at 251 West 91st Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by ODA Architects and developed by Adam America Real Estate and Northlink Capital, the structure will yield 52 units in two- to five-bedroom layouts with marketing by Ryan Serhant of SERHANT. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 91st Street.

YIMBY Attends Plaque Unveiling at 17 Beekman Place in Turtle Bay, Manhattan

Last Friday evening, YIMBY attended a plaque unveiling dedicated to the late James Vincent Forrestal at 17 Beekman Place in Turtle Bay. The residential building, located by the corner of Beekman Place and East 50th Street, formerly served as Forrestal’s private home and is now owned by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its diplomatic missions. The event was attended by Luxembourg Prime Minister H.E. Xavier Bettel, Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. State Department, Lt. Col. James Hendon, Commissioner, NYC Department of Veterans’ Services, and Francesca C. Forrestal, the sole grandchild of the Forrestals.

Demolition Underway for New Museum Expansion at 231 Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Demolition work is underway for the New Museum‘s eight-story expansion at 235 Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu of OMA and Cooper Robertson & Partners, the 174-foot-tall annex will rise directly to the south of the SANAA-designed main building from 2007 and nearly double the institution’s footprint to 115,277 square feet. The sleek, angular volume will connect laterally to the original museum and house three gallery floors, a cafe, a bookstore, offices, community and educational program space, art storage, and outdoor terraces. Sciame Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the intersection of Bowery and Spring Street.

50-07 5th Street’s Topped-Out Superstructure Progresses in Long Island City, Queens

Exterior work is progressing on 50-07 5th Street, a six-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Developed by 5007-5009 Development LLC, the structure is being built by BK Builders LLC on a plot between 50th and 51st Avenues with the East River waterfront to the west and the more dense downtown area to the east. Many details for the project remain unknown, including the architect, the exact unit count, and potential amenities.

Sendero Verde’s 34-Story Second Phase Progresses at 50 East 112th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan

Construction has passed the halfway point on 50 East 112th Street, the tallest tower in the Sendero Verde mixed-use complex in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Jonathan Rose Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Acacia Network, the 34-story tower represents the second phase of construction and will yield 361 permanently affordable rental units for low- to moderate-income families and the formerly homeless. The edifice is rising directly to the west of the completed first phase, which encompasses a 15-story tower at 60 East 112th Street and a ten-story structure at 75 East 111th Street. The latest tower will span 395,000 square feet, making it the largest affordable Passive House development in the world. L&M Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of East 112th Street and Madison Avenue.

The Edison Gramercy Nears Completion at 250 East 21st Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan

Exterior work is finishing up on The Edison Gramercy, a 13-story residential building at 250 East 21st Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan. Designed by Isaac & Stern Architects and developed by Urban Development Partners and SD Second Avenue Property, the structure will yield 54 units in one- to four-bedroom layouts with interiors designed by Paris Forino. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing‘s Eklund Gomes Team is leading sales and marketing for the units, with pricing ranging from $1.2 to more than $6 million. Ross Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of East 21st Street and Second Avenue.

787 Eleventh Avenue’s Renovation and Expansion Nears Completion in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Renovation and expansion work is nearing completion on 787 Eleventh Avenue, a ten-story commercial building in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Rafael Viñoly and developed by the Georgetown Company, the project involved the restoration of the historic structure’s façade, modernization of its interiors, and the construction of an 86,000-square-foot, two-story extension above the original parapet. JLL is in charge of leasing and Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by West 55th Street to the north, West 54th Street and DeWitt Clinton Park to the south, and Eleventh Avenue to the east.

The Apsley’s Façade Nears Completion at 2330 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Façade installation is nearing completion on The Apsley, a 19-story residential building at 2330 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects with interiors by Champalimaud Design and developed by Welltower and Hines, the structure will yield 76 assisted living and 80 memory care apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with a capacity of up to 178 residents. Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 85th Street.

One Madison Avenue’s Tower Expansion Begins Steel Assembly in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Construction is rising on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial expansion in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation and expansion of a former eight-story structure and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full block bound by East 23rd and 24th Streets and Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South.

1661 Madison Avenue Nears Completion in East Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 1661 Madison Avenue, a eight-story residential building in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by ARC Architecture Design Studios and developed by A&R Properties Group, the structure will yield 14 rental units. Construction Experts LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 111th Street to the north and Tito Puente Way to the south.
