Construction has passed the halfway mark on 9 DeKalb Avenue, a 73-story residential skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn and the Outer Boroughs’ first supertall at 1,066 feet tall. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the tower will soon eclipse the 720-foot-tall architectural height of Kohn Pedersen Fox’s Brooklyn Point to secure the title of the tallest building in Brooklyn. 9 DeKalb Avenue will yield a total of 425 rental apartments and 150 condominiums.

Excavation is underway at 45-30 Davis Street, the site of a 20-story residential tower in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed in a joint venture between ZD Jasper Realty and Ascent Development, the 136,648-square-foot structure will stand 300 feet tall and yield 13- condominiums and 15 parking spots on the first floor. The site is located off Jackson Avenue between Pearson Street and Davis Street, a short walk from the Court Square station that services the 7, E, M, and G trains.

Construction is nearing completion on 41-03 21st Street, a nine-story, 115-room hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Michael Kang Architect and developed by Vision Asset Group LLC, the 91-foot-tall structure stands at the corner of 21st Street and 41st Avenue by the 21st Street-Queensbridge station, servicing the F train. Sam Sai Hospitality LLC is set to operate the 34,440-square-foot hotel.

Gene Kaufman’s 1,048-Room Hotel at 150 West 48th Street Passes Halfway Mark in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is continuing to rise on 150 West 48th Street, a 330-foot tall, 38-story Hilton hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, the 320,000-square-foot structure will yield 1,048 hotel rooms, up from the previous reported count of 974, making it the ninth-largest hotel in New York City. McSam Hotel Group purchased the site from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 for $140 million, and received a $250 million construction loan before work broke ground in 2020. Omnibuild is in charge of constructing the hotel.
