145 West 47th Street Gets Off The Ground, Set to Become Another Times Square Hotel

Located between Sixth and Seventh Avenue in Times Square, 145 West 47th Street will soon yield a new 343-key hotel. Designed by Berg + Moss Architects, the hospitality project is well under way, and the first floor is now being formed and assembled. The building will stand 27 stories high when complete, and have a total square footage of around 141,500 square feet. The property was sold by Stahl Real Estate almost three years ago for $101.2 million dollars, and TriBeach Holdings is the new developer.

Model Photos Revealed as Thomas Heatherwick’s Pier 55 Begins to Bloom Atop the Hudson River, in Chelsea

Rising on the former site of Cunard’s Pier 54, Thomas Heatherwick’s park over the Hudson River is now blooming quickly. Pier 55 continues to be assembled piece by piece on the Chelsea waterfront. Large, preformed concrete blocks are being placed into position with the help of barges and the use of a construction crane. The 2.7 acre grounds will sit atop 425 piles that hold the project over the water, giving the structure its unique shape and figure. Hudson River Park Trust (HRPT) will manage Pier 55, and Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects, P.C. is designing landscaping. Today, YIMBY has a look at new photos of the model for the site, which offer a much better illustration of the park’s impending appearance.

DXA Studio Completes 280 St. Marks Avenue in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Located between Vanderbilt Avenue and Underhill Avenue, 280 St. Marks Avenue is a newly finished residential project in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. This 80,000 square foot condominium project is surrounded by brownstones and brick townhouses and incorporates the architecture of the neighborhood into the faceted exterior facade. It is designed by DXA studio and was developed by DNA Development. There are 31 units in total.

YIMBY Tours Related’s 88-Story 15 Hudson Yards, First Residential Skyscraper To Open Atop the Hudson Yards Platform

15 Hudson Yards is a 910-foot tall structure, and the first residential skyscraper to be completed in the massive $25 billion Hudson Yards complex developed by Related Companies. With LEED Gold status, the new 88-story glass tower spans 960,000 square feet, and was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with the Rockwell Group. Ismael Leyva Architects served as the architect of record. David Rockwell recently led an exclusive tour, showcasing the building’s 40,000 square feet of amenity spaces on its 50th and 51st floors, followed by a question and answer session with architect Elizabeth Diller.
