250 Fifth Avenue Begins Vertical Ascent In Midtown Manhattan

250 Fifth Avenue is an upcoming 23-story, 230-foot tall building in Midtown. The future hotel conversion is being designed by Charles Platt of Platt Byard Dovell White Architects with Perkins Eastman as the architect of record. Empire Management is the developer of the NoMad site. The existing 111-year old, five-story exterior of the McKim, Mead & White building is being preserved and restored. The landmarked facade will sit next to the new structure which will be enclosed in light-colored precast concrete panels and closely spaced, vertical strips of narrow windows along the southern facade.

One Willoughby Square Begins Vertical Ascent Above Downtown Brooklyn

Located in Downtown Brooklyn, One Willoughby Square, aka 420 Albee Square, is going to be a new 500,000-square foot Class-A office tower. The 18,000-square foot site is situated across the street from City Point and Brooklyn Point. As of now, work on the 34-story, 495-foot tall development is climbing above the fifth floor. It is being designed by FXCollaborative and bring developed by JEMB Realty. Gilbane is in charge of construction.

Greenpoint Landing’s Next Phase Revealed as OMA Selected For Design Of Two Skycrapers

Partners Brookfield Properties and Park Tower Group have announced the next large phase of development at Greenpoint Landing. The centerpiece will be two residential towers designed by OMA. One acre of public waterfront space designed by James Corner Field Operations will surround the mixed-income housing which will also include another new seven-story building. Thirty percent of the 745 units will be affordable housing. This project will also result in further expansion of Greenpoint’s waterfront esplanade. Marmol Radziner is the interior designer while Beyer Blinder Belle is the executive architect and interior designer.

“The Dime” Officially Tops Out 23 Floors Above Williamsburg, at 209 Havemeyer Street

“The Dime” is a new, mixed-use complex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The 23-story project recently topped out, and is located at 209 Havemeyer Street. The building stands out among the surrounding blocks. It is easily visible when coming into the elevated Marcy Avenue subway station, and today, YIMBY has a full update on progress, as well as photos of the views from the top of the new tower.
