Foundations Underway For Queens’ Tallest Skyscraper at 27-48 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City

Foundations are taking shape at 27-48 Jackson Avenue, site of a 69-story residential skyscraper in Long Island City‘s Court Square district. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Building Orchard LLC, the 811-foot-tall tower will claim the title of tallest building in Queens and yield 635,000 square feet with 818 residential units, 11,700 square feet of retail space, and a two-story parking garage in the podium. Triton Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 43-01 Queens Street and occupies a full city block along Jackson Avenue between Queens and Orchard Streets.

40-09 29th Street Rises Above Street Level in Long Island City, Queens

Construction is rising above street level on 40-09 29th Street, a five-story mixed-use building in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Design Group In H&K LLC and developed by Gang W. Realty, the 66-foot-tall structure will span 27,850 square feet and yield 20 units spread across 14,950 square feet, as well as 5,655 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a 7,244-square-foot cellar level, and 4,775 square feet of enclosed parking space for 13 vehicles. World Hub Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between 40th Avenue and 40th Road.

Gotham Point’s North Tower Completes Construction in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is complete on Gotham Point’s north tower, a 57-story residential skyscraper at 1-15 57th Avenue in Hunters Point South, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization and Riseboro Community Partnership, the 559-foot-tall structure yields 692 rental units and is also known as Parcel F in a two-tower master plan alongside its shorter 33-story, 443-foot-tall sibling, Parcel G. The property is bound by Center Boulevard to the north, 56th Avenue to the east, and 57th Avenue to the west.

317-319 West 35th Street Tops Out in the Garment District in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on 317-319 West 35th Street, a 25-story hotel building in Midtown’s Garment District. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 249-foot-tall structure will yield 59,250 square feet with 166 hotel rooms, 3,399 square feet of commercial space, and three below-grade levels. Crosscity Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Gemma Gramercy Nears Completion at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy, Manhattan

Construction nears completion on Gemma Gramercy, a 20-story residential building at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by SMA Equities, the 233-foot-tall structure is engineered to Passive House standards and will yield 95,000 square feet with 108 rental apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with 28 units designated for affordable housing. KSK Construction Group is the general contractor and REAL New York is leading marketing for the project, which is located at the corner of East 23rd Street and Third Avenue on the border with Kips Bay.

15 West 96th Street’s Stone Façade Nears Completion on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Façade installation is nearing completion at 15 West 96th Street, a 22-story residential building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Sackman Enterprises, the 312-foot-tall structure will yield 17 condominium units. Cavan Builders Corporation is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Central Park West and Amsterdam Avenue.

Excavation at 740 Eighth Avenue Progresses Further Below Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Excavation is progressing at 740 Eighth Avenue, the site of a 52-story supertall hotel and observation tower in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell, the 1,067-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 776,000 square feet with 825 hotel rooms in its lower half and a public observatory with a drop ride attraction above. The unconventionally-shaped structure will also contain retail space, two upper restaurant floors, and a pool deck for guests. Lendlease is the general contractor, WSP is the structural engineer, and Ancora Engineering is handling excavation and foundations for the property, which is located on an expansive lot along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.

Finishing Touches Underway on Google Headquarters at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Finishing touches are wrapping up on Google’s new 12-story headquarters at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Oxford Properties, the 1.3-million-square-foot project involved the restoration and 232-foot vertical expansion of the St. John’s Terminal building along the Hudson River waterfront. The structure will serve as the centerpiece of the sprawling 1.7-million-square-foot “Googleplex” master plan along with 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street. Gensler is the interior designer and Turner Construction was the general contractor for the property, which spans two full city blocks between West Street, West Houston Street, Washington Street, and the New York Department of Sanitation building to the south.

Disney Headquarters Terracotta Façade Nears Completion at Four Hudson Square in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Façade installation nears completion on The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters, a 22-story building at Four Hudson Square in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Silverstein Properties, the 338-foot-tall structure will yield 1.2 million square feet of offices, film and production studios, and ground-floor retail. Lendlease is the general contractor for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 137 Varick Street and occupies a full city block bound by Vandam Street to the north, Spring Street to the south, Varick Street to the east, and Hudson Street to the west.

44-54 Ninth Avenue’s Renovation and Expansion Progresses in Chelsea, Manhattan

Renovation and expansion work continue on 44-54 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story office and retail building on the border of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital, the project consists of the restoration of a row of a landmarked townhomes and the construction of a new office volume above. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue.
