A lot has progressed at the site of 23-20 Jackson Avenue since YIMBY’s last update back in early August. The nine-story reinforced concrete superstructure quickly rose and topped out since the summer, and now the brick façade and window grid await to be revealed from behind the blue netting and metal scaffolding. Designed by KSQ Architects and developed by The Vorea Group, the property is located at the corner of Jackson Avenue and Pearson Street in Long Island CityQueens. The structure will yield 85,851 square feet with retail, offices, and a 72-room hotel operated by San Francisco-based hotelier Sonder Corp.

Demolition is complete at 45-03 23rd Street, the site of a 544-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hunters PointQueens. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital under the Court Square 45th Avenue LLC, the 50-story structure will yield a mix of condominiums, commercial space, and communal space. The site is located along 23rd Street between Jackson Avenue and 45th Avenue, directly to the east of the elevated subway tracks of the 7 train.

Domino Sugar Refinery Prepares for Office Conversion at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction work is ramping up for the office conversion of the 140-year-old Domino Sugar Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and developed by Two Trees, the project is the centerpiece of the Domino Sugar master plan by SHoP Architects and James Corner Field Operations and involves the construction of a massive barrel-vaulted glass roof atop the former factory. When complete, the structure will top out at 235 feet tall, while the interiors will be gutted and restored. Levels one through four, as well as 14 and 15 will have their ceiling spans increased, and the 16th floor will be eliminated.

Façade installation is nearing completion on One Bell Slip, a 31-story residential tower in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Brookfield Property Partners and Park Tower Group, the 369-foot-tall structure will yield 413 units spread across 292,029 square feet, as well as 992 square feet of commercial space. The project is located at the corner of Bell Slip and Commercial Street along the Newton Creek and East River waterfront and is part of the Greenpoint Landing riverfront development.

227 West Street’s Stepped and Cantilevering Towers Top Out in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 227 West Street, a pair of 30- and 40-story residential towers in GreenpointBrooklyn. Designed by OMA with Beyer Blinder Belle as the architect of record and developed by Brookfield Property Partners and Park Tower Group, the 450- and 351-foot tall towers are part of the 22-acre Greenpoint Landing development along the East River. James Corner Field Operations is the landscape architect, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer, Thornton Tomasetti is the façade consultant, and Highbury Concrete is responsible for building the superstructures.
