55 Suffolk Street Reaches Pinnacle Over Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Construction has topped out on 55 Suffolk Street, a 30-story residential building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the 310-foot-tall structure is the taller in the two-building Broome Street Development complex along with the 16-story The Norfolk Senior Housing Building at 64 Norfolk Street to the west. Both buildings will collectively span 387,223 square feet and yield a total of 488 rental units, of which 43 percent will be dedicated to permanently affordable housing. Monadnock Construction, Inc. is the general contractor for the two buildings, which are being built between Suffolk and Norfolk Streets.

Leasing Launches for Magnolia DUMBO at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Leasing has begun for 85 Jay Street, a 1.1-million-square-foot residential development in DUMBOBrooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, the project consists of a pair of 21-story buildings that rise from a multi-level podium with multiple retail spaces. The residential component comprises Front & York, a collection of 408 condominiums from CIM Group and LIVWRK, and Magnolia DUMBO, a slate of 320 rental units from RXR Realty with marketing led by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing Group. New Line Structures is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full-block parcel bound by Front Street to the north, York Street to the south, Bridge Street to the east, and Jay Street to the west.

Construction is nearing completion on 434-446 Clinton Avenue, a row of seven low-rise townhouses in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by The Loketch Group, the properties will yield around 4,000 square feet apiece and also include private parking. R&S Contracting NY Inc. is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Gates and Greene Avenues.

YIMBY Checks Out the Views From TSX Broadway at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

YIMBY went on a tour of TSX Broadway, a 46-story hotel that topped out last week at 1568 Broadway in Times Square. Designed by Perkins Eastman and Mancini Duffy and developed by L&L Holding Company and Fortress Investment Group, the 470-foot-tall tower will yield 550,000 square feet with a 669-key hotel, retail space, restaurants, and a cantilevering outdoor performance stage that overlooks Times Square. The property is also home to the historic Palace Theatre, which will soon be raised by Urban Foundation and Engineering. PBDW Architects is restoring the interior of the theatre, and Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor for 1568 Broadway, which is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street. The project is expected to cost around $2.5 billion.

Nevins Street Apartments Nears Completion at 50 Nevins Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction is finishing up on The Nevins Street Apartments, a residential building at 50 Nevins Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Institute for Community Living (ICL), the project involved the gut renovation of a 95-year-old eight-story building and the construction of a ten-story volume along Schermerhorn Street that extends over the northeast corner of the original structure’s roof. The 114,000-square-foot property will yield 129 affordable apartments as well as mental health support services for low-income residents. Mega Contracting Group LLC is the general contractor and King Contracting Group built the masonry walls for the addition, which is located at the corner of Nevins and Schermerhorn Streets.
