Reinforced Concrete Core of Norman Foster’s 50 Hudson Yards Rises Above Street Level, in Hudson Yards

Renown architect Norman Foster’s office skyscraper at 50 Hudson Yards is beginning to rise above street level. With 2.9 million square feet of floor space, it will be the largest commercial office building by square footage in the first phase of Hudson Yards, as well as the final structure in part one of Related Companies’ master plan. The site is bound by West 33rd Street, West 34th Street, Tenth Avenue, and Eleventh Avenue. The future 1,011-foot-tall tower sits across the street from 30 Hudson Yards, while construction on 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral by Bjarke Ingels Group is also underway to the north. Oxford Properties and Mitsui Fudosan are the other two developers for the Foster + Partners-designed project.

Highest Residential Infinity Pool in Western Hemisphere Installed Atop Brooklyn Point, in Downtown Brooklyn

New York-based developer Extell has surpassed another milestone for 138 Willoughby Street, aka Brooklyn Point, in Downtown Brooklyn. Construction workers have now lifted and assembled the steel frame for the highest residential infinity-edge pool in the western hemisphere. The 27-foot-long pool is now in place on the roof deck of the 68-story, 720-foot-tall skyscraper, part of the third and final phase of the City Point complex.

Construction Nears Completion for The Symon, at 76 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights

A teaser site has launched for 76 Schermerhorn Street, aka The Symon, a 12-story building that is currently under construction in Brooklyn Heights. The structure will yield 59 residences spanning one- to four-bedrooms apiece. Several units, including three penthouses, will have their own private outdoor space. Eugene Colberg is the architect of record, while Studio DB is the interior designer for the residences, amenity spaces, and the curtain wall. Lonicera Partners, Orange Management, and The Davis Companies are the three developers for the property. Sales are being led by Stribling Marketing Associates. Pricing for the units has not been revealed yet.

YIMBY Scopes 5 River Park’s Skyline Views and Construction Progress, In Cobble Hill

YIMBY recently went on a hard-hat tour of 5 River Park, aka 347 Henry Street. The reinforced concrete structure stands 15 stories to its roof, atop the Brooklyn neighborhood of Cobble Hill. The building is being designed by Romines Architecture with Fortis Property Group serving as the developer. There will be 25 condominiums ranging from one- to four-bedroom units. D S L V Studio, a Brooklyn-based design and decor company, is in charge of the interior decor and styling while exclusive sales and marketing is being handled by the Eklund Gomes and Maroni teams from Douglas Elliman. The sales gallery is located at 97 Amity Street.
