Crown Panel Installation Begins at 111 West 57th Street in Midtown

SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street recently reached another milestone as work has commenced on the installation of the transparent paneling on the supertall’s steel crown. This is the final major external component of the world’s most slender skyscraper, which is developed by JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners. The 1,428-foot-tall tower will contain 46 condominiums designed by Studio Sofield and marketed by Douglas Elliman.

Work Appears to Stall at 251 West 14th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

YIMBY went to check out the site of 251 West 14th Street in Chelsea, where work on an 11-story residential building appears to have stalled. The bottom floors and lower section of the superstructure have been completed, while construction has yet to reach the cantilevering top floors. Isay Weinfield collaborated with FORM4 Design Studio PLLC to design the project. Pizzarotti is in charge of the build, which is expected to yield a total of 25 condominiums.

Construction Tops Out on DDG’s 532 West 20th Street in Chelsea

Construction has topped out at 532 West 20th Street in Chelsea. The 11-story residential development rose quickly since YIMBY’s last update in August 2019, when only the first few floors were built. Located between Tenth Avenue and Eleventh Avenue, the project is designed by design-build firm DDG, which purchased the plot for $24.25 million in 2014. The building will contain 27,019 square feet of residential space divided into nine apartments, averaging 3,000 square feet apiece.
