Demolition at 80 Flatbush Avenue Continues in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Architectural photographer Tectonic recently checked in on the progress at 80 Flatbush Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Demolition is underway to clear the site for the construction of a multi-structure development that will include one of the borough’s tallest skyscrapers. A large assembly of scaffolding and black netting shrouds what remains of the original brick structure that is being dismantled floor by floor. Last year the City Council approved the project, which had a reduction in size and scale and a redesign of the largest tower. Alloy Development is the developer of the complex, which is located on a triangular plot bound by Flatbush Avenue, State Street, Third Avenue, and a small sliver of Schermerhorn Street.

YIMBY Scopes the Views From 200 Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour to take in the views from 200 Amsterdam Avenue, the Upper West Side‘s tallest building. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and developed by SJP Properties, the 668-foot-tall residential skyscraper is topped out and is awaiting the completion of its distinctive crown. CetraRuddy is the lead interior designer for the 283,000-square-foot project.

Thomas Heatherwick’s 515 West 18th Street Now Officially Called Lantern House, in Chelsea

The Related Companies has released new renderings and a new name for Thomas Heatherwick’s High Line project at 515 West 18th Street: Lantern House. The pair of residential structures is located along Tenth Avenue between West 18th Street and West 19th Street and flanks both sides of the High Line, which has seen a dramatic transformation from new construction over the past decade. The development is Heatherwick’s first residential project in New York City and in the United States. SLCE Architects is the architect of record.

Excavation Continues on World’s Tallest Modular Hotel at 842 Sixth Avenue in NoMad

Work is underway at 842 Sixth Avenue in NoMad, where the world’s tallest modular hotel will soon rise. Designed by Danny Forster & Architecture, the 26-story building will house the AC NoMad Hotel by Marriott International and will eclipse the Lower East Side’s citizenM New York Bowery Hotel for the record. Concord Hospitality is the developer of the 100,000-square-foot project, which will contain 168 guest rooms, terraces, and a rooftop bar.

FXCollaborative Celebrates Topping Out of One Willoughby Square, the Tallest New Office Building in Downtown Brooklyn

YIMBY recently attended the topping-out ceremony and ribbon cutting of One Willoughby Square, aka 420 Albee Square, in Downtown Brooklyn. The 34-story, 495-foot-tall reinforced concrete skyscraper is the tallest new office building in Brooklyn and will contain 500,000 square feet of newly built Class A office space. FXCollaborative is the designer and JEMB Realty is the developer of the project. Gilbane Building Company is in charge of the construction.
