Façade Installation Progresses on The Hospital For Special Surgery’s Expansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Curtain wall installation is progressing on The Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Tower, a 12-story waterfront expansion of the Hospital For Special Surgery at 535 East 70th Street in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by EwingCole, the $200 million addition will span 100,000 square feet directly over FDR Drive and connect the main hospital wing to the south via a sky bridge. Tishman Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 71st and 72nd Streets.

New Renderings Released For Williamsburg Wharf At 464-484 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn 

New renderings have been revealed for Williamsburg Wharf, a 3.75-acre mixed-use development at 464-484 Kent Avenue on the South Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn. Developed by Naftali Group and Access Industries, the multi-phase master plan will yield approximately 1 million square feet of residential, commercial, and retail space, along with a public esplanade stretching nearly 525 feet along the East River. Williamsburg Wharf will feature five 22-story residential towers housing nearly 850 condominium and rental units designed by Brandon Haw Architecture, COOKFOX Architects, Rockwell Group, Ward + Gray, Studio Munge, and Hill West Architects. SERHANT New Development is handling sales and marketing for the first residential tower, with sales slated to launch later this year. The site is bound by South 10th Street to the north, Division Avenue to the south, Kent Avenue to the east, and Wallabout Channel to the west.

Edgemere Commons Building B1 Tops Out at 5119 Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, Queens

Construction has topped out on Edgemere Commons’ second all-affordable housing structure at 5119 Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, Queens. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Tishman Speyer’s TS Communities, the company’s affordable housing development platform, and The Arker Companies and Slate Property Group, the 247,000-square-foot structure will yield 237 rental apartments in studio to three-bedroom layouts, with 36 reserved for the formerly homeless, as well as 8,000 square feet of retail space and 7,500 square feet of community facility space. The building, also know as Edgemere Commons Building B1, is situated between Beach 50th and Beach 53rd Streets.

142 West 21st Street Readies For Construction in Chelsea, Manhattan 

Work is about to get underway on 142 West 21st Street, a two-story parking garage that is being expanded into a 13-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Yiannes Einhorn of Grid Group, who purchased the property from Jadlamm Realty Corp. for $31 million in 2021, the 135-foot-tall structure will span 61,256 square feet and yield 22 condominium units with an average scope of 2,756 square feet, as well as 610 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, parking spots for 16 vehicles, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. The property is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Construction continues to rise on Xadia Hotel, a 42-story hotel tower at 58 West 39th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Marin Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 475-foot-tall structure will yield 173 guest rooms and amenities including a restaurant, an arcade, and a rooftop bar. The property is located on a narrow interior plot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, one block south of Bryant Park.
