Terracotta and Bronze Appear as 111 West 57th Street Continues Climbing Into Skyline, Midtown

Now that 111 West 57th Street is above the floors complicated by the adjacent Steinway Building, which is being integrated into the base of the supertall, the future 1,428-foot-tall tower is shooting upwards. The latest photos of progress come from Streetscaper and Tectonic, and besides new floors being added on a weekly basis, the exterior of the tower is now receiving its terracotta and bronze facade.

Permits Filed for Silverstein’s Massive Site at 520 West 41st Street

The site of the old Mercedes dealership at 520 West 41st Street has seen several prospective designs covered by YIMBY over the years, including a pair of connected skyscrapers that generated a substantial amount of buzz. Now, permits have finally been filed with the Department of Buildings for the site’s residential tower, which will rise 57 floors and 723 feet to its rooftop.

3 Hudson Boulevard May Become Hudson Yards’ Tallest Tower

Hudson Yards has been making headlines in recent months thanks to the substantial progress of Related’s development over and surrounding the Eastern Railyards, which is now yielding a forest of skyscrapers. But immediately to the northwest, another tower that’s been in the making for an equally long period of time may have just received a boost to become the tallest of them all. A new rendering of the Moinian Group’s 3 Hudson Boulevard has surfaced, showing both an updated design for the building itself, as well as the addition of a 300-foot spire, that would make the supertall the tallest in the neighborhood.

53 West 53rd Street Making Major Headway, Midtown

The Midtown supertall boom may be focused on 57th Street, but a few blocks to the south, the tower that started the frenzy is finally reaching into the skyline. 53 West 53rd Street, formerly known as Torre Verre and rising adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art, is now well over halfway to its eventual 1,050-foot pinnacle. Reveal for 11 West 37th Street, New Hotel Coming to Midtown

YIMBY previously reported on the filing of a job application for 11 West 37th Street back in July of 2014, when the project was first proposed. Now that the site’s old occupant has been demolished, work is fully underway, and a rendering has surfaced in the on-site construction signage.

Updated Design For 221 West 28th Street, HAP’s Chelsea Project

The intersection of Fifth Avenue and 30th Street has substantial existing density, but the construction projects now underway on many of the surrounding blocks will soon result in one of the most dramatic height spurts any neighborhood has seen in the past few decades. The length of Fifth Avenue above Madison Square Park is increasingly prime real estate for supertalls, and while 15 East 30th Street falls slightly short of that typology’s 1,000′ minimum, it will still make a major impact on the skyline. Now, YIMBY has several new renderings of the tower, which is just getting under construction.

41-Story, 223-Unit Mixed-Use Tower Rises to 33rd Floor at 38 West 33rd Street, Midtown South

Construction is underway on the 33rd floor of the 41-story, 223-unit mixed-use building under development at 38-46 West 33rd Street, in Midtown South. Progress on the structure, which includes façade installation, can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the tower, upon completion, will encompass 220,724 square feet and rise 404 feet to its upper roof, not including bulkhead elements.
