New Design for Silverstein’s Massive Two-Towered 520 West 41st Street Revealed, in Midtown West

YIMBY has an exclusive new rendering, which is possibly the final design, for 520 West 41st Street, located in Midtown between Eleventh Avenue and Galvin Avenue. Silverstein Properties, the owner, has hired CetraRuddy Architecture to design the estimated one million square foot mixed-use project consisting of two glass towers atop a substantial retail podium. Leeding Builders Group will be the general contractor.

Gene Kaufman’s 45-Story 140 West 24th Street Climbs Towards Halfway Mark, in Chelsea

The reinforced concrete structure of 140 West 24th Street is nearing the halfway mark in its rise to an imminent 45-story and 416-foot pinnacle. Gene Kaufman Architect is designing the new hotel, and Sam Chang is developing the 142,949 square foot structure. Besides the 508 hotel rooms, there will be a main lobby, a dining area, and kitchens on the cellar and first floors. The site is located in Chelsea, between Sixth and Seventh Avenue.

111 West 57th Street’s Crown Begins to Take Shape Atop Midtown Manhattan

SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street has begun the next phase of construction. Work on the steel crown is now underway, and the soaring metallic component has begun to rise atop the recently completed reinforced concrete superstructure. The 1,428-foot-tall, super-slender skyscraper sits almost perfectly in the middle of Billionaire’s Row, and is being developed by  JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital PartnersDouglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing for the 46 condominiums. The building will eventually become the second-tallest tower in New York City by roof height, and the skinniest in the world. It will encompass a width to height ratio of 1:24, indicating a very narrow width that measures just under 60 feet.

Work on Sheldon Solow’s 7 West 57th Street Progresses Along Billionaires Row, in Midtown

The site of 7 West 57th Street sits directly adjacent to the SOM-designed Solow Building, aka 9 West 57th Street. Construction on the 19-story reinforced concrete structure has now topped-out, and glass panels on the main southern elevation are nearing completion. The 237-foot-tall tower is being designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Sheldon Solow, the chairman of Solow Realty & Development Group. 7 West 57th Street is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenue along Billionaire’s Row. Upper units will clear the roof heights of the surrounding urbanity, and will obtain north-facing views of Central Park.

430 East 58th Street Begins to Rise Above Sutton Place, in Midtown East

After several years of legal battles between developers involved with the project, and NIMBYs who were not, construction on 430 East 58th Street, aka 3 Sutton Place, is finally now rising above street level. The first set of reinforced concrete floors have already been poured, and formwork is now above the adjacent buildings. A slight cantilever on the eastern elevation is beginning to form and protrude outwards. The future residential skyscraper was formerly being designed by Foster + Partners, but is now being overseen by Thomas Juul-Hansen, and is set to rise 800 feet over the Midtown East neighborhood of Sutton Place. Gamma Real Estate is the developer, and the lot is located between Sutton Place South and First Avenue.
