New York City Council Reveals Next Phase of Park Avenue Malls Redesign in Midtown East, Manhattan

An 11-block stretch of Park Avenue in Midtown East may soon be transformed into a corridor of experiential galleries and venue spaces. According to New York City Council member Keith Powers, transformation of the Park Avenue Malls, a series of enclosed green spaces and traffic medians between 46th and 57th Streets along the avenue, is set to proceed to the next phase of project planning. This includes the retention of a landscape architect to create a master plan for project.

Construction is complete and occupancy has begun at 140 West 28th Street, a 46-story dual-brand Marriott Hotel tower in Chelsea. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of the McSam Hotel Group, the 470-foot-tall tower yields 173,000 square feet and 531 guest rooms split between a 284-room Springhill Suites and a 247-room Townplace Suites. Omnibuild served as the general contractor for the project, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in the Flower District of Midtown, Manhattan.

1162 Broadway Nears Topping Out in NoMad, Manhattan

Construction is approaching topping out on 1162 Broadway, a 13-story commercial building in NoMad. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by 1162 Broadway LLC, the 185-foot-tall structure will yield Class A office space within the Madison Square North Historic District. Plans for the project were initially approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) in late spring of 2020. Permits filed in December 2013 originally called for a hotel under the ownership of Aini Assets rising 14 stories with 52 guest rooms, a ground-floor cafe, and a restaurant. On Star Management LLC is the general contractor for the address, which is located between West 27th and West 28th Streets.

Façade Installation Wrapping Up for 1,046-Room Hilton Hotel at 150 West 48th Street in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is wrapping up on 150 West 48th Street, a 38-story triple-brand Hilton hotel tower in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, the 418-foot-tall, 320,000-square-foot structure will yield 1,046 hotel rooms across a Hampton Inn, a Home 2 Suites, and a Motto Hotel, Hilton’s newest brand of micro-hotels. McSam Hotel Group purchased the Midtown, Manhattan site from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 at a cost of $140 million and received a $250 million loan before construction broke ground in 2020. Omnibuild is in charge of erecting the tower, which is located by the corner of West 48th Street and Seventh Avenue.
