The current round of the 57th Street boom is making rapid progress, and construction work at 220 Central Park South in particular is moving quickly. Despite all the momentum, slight uncertainty has surrounded the building’s final design, but YIMBY now has a fresh rendering confirming the skyscraper’s ultimate appearance.
YIMBY first reported on permits for 118 East 59th Street back in September of 2014, and we posted the first renderings back in January. Now we have the full set of images depicting both exteriors and interiors for the project, and its website has also gone live.
Soho Properties, MHP Real Estate Services and Hampshire Hotels Group have closed on the purchase of 19,772 square feet of air rights for their planned 29-story, 384-foot mixed-use commercial building at 560 7th Avenue, in Midtown (at 40th Street), according to Commercial Observer. A 238-key Dream Hotel is planned, which will also feature retail space on the ground & second floor, and restaurants on the third floor and cellar level. Stonehill & Taylor Architects is designing, and demolition of the existing six-story building is expected to commence by the end of this year.
Construction is proceeding swiftly across the entirety of the Eastern Yards (within Related’s greater Hudson Yards plan), and last week YIMBY posted photos of excavation making major headway at 15 Hudson Yards. Now we have new renderings for 35 Hudson Yards, which will also be mixed-use, holding condominiums and a hotel.
Celine Mo, of Roystar Investment Corp., has filed applications for a five-story, three-unit residential building at 242 West 22nd Street, in eastern Chelsea. The building will measure 7,600 square feet, and units will definitely be condominiums, averaging a spacious 2,530 square feet. James Wagman Architects is the applicant of record, and the existing four-story, four-unit townhouse passed pre-demolition inspection earlier this month.
