Construction continues to rise on 126 East 57th Street, a 28-story residential tower on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by ODA Architecture and developed by MRR Development under the MRR 1326 LLC, the 346-foot-tall structure will yield 147 condominium units with an average scope of 1,156 square feet, as well as 5,000 square feet of lower-level retail space. WSP USA is the engineer and Plaza Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue, with a narrow panhandle extension to East 57th Street.

Designed by Archimaera Architecture and developed by ZD Jasper Realty under the ZDJ Hudson Yards LLC, the structure is being constructed alongside its 120-foot-tall identical counterpart at 489 Ninth Avenue at the southern end of the parcel. The two buildings will collectively span 220,000 square feet and yield 174 condominium units with an average scope of 970 square feet, as well as ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. Warner Construction Services Inc. is the general contractor for both properties, which are bound by West 38th Street to the north, West 37th Street to the south, Ninth Avenue to the east, and Dyer Avenue to the west.

Funding Approved For New Port Authority Bus Terminal In Midtown, Manhattan

Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) have agreed to work together to finance a $10 billion project to replace and expand the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown, Manhattan. The city has agreed to allocate 40 years of tax revenue from three new commercial developments to fund the project, which has been designed by Foster + Partners. The tax allocation is expected to generate around $2 billion and cover approximately 20 percent of the total anticipated $10 billion cost of construction for the project.

Renderings have been revealed for The Torch, a 1,067-foot mixed-use supertall skyscraper at 740 Eighth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell, the 52-story structure will span 875,372 square feet and yield an 825-room hotel on the lower half and a public outdoor observation deck with a drop ride attraction above. The property will also feature lower-level retail space, a restaurant on two of the upper floors, a VIP lounge, and a pool deck for hotel guests. Lendlease is the general contractor, WSP is the structural engineer, and Ancora Engineering is handling excavation and foundations for the project, which is located along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.
