YIMBY Takes in the Rising Skyline From Atop 53 West 53rd Street, in Midtown

YIMBY recently went on a hard hat tour of the upper floors of Jean Nouvel’s 53 West 53rd Street residential skyscraper. The uniquely tapered diagrid structure is topped out at 1,050 feet with the façade almost entirely installed. The supertall is being developed by Hines, while SLCE Architects and Adamson Associates are the architects of record. The condominiums are being marketed by Corcoran Sunshine.

Porcelanosa’s prominent flagship location in the Flatiron District of Midtown, Manhattan could receive a major vertical expansion and interior renovation if approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. New proposals, dated April 16, 2019, are arranged by CetraRuddy Architecture in collaboration with preservation consultants Higgins Quasebarth and engineering consultants Walter P. Moore.

Art Deco-Inspired Rose Hill Begins Ascent at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad

Construction on 30 East 29th Street, aka Rose Hill, is moving along quickly in NoMad. Work on the foundations wrapped up in January and now the upcoming 639-foot-tall structure is several floors above street level. The upcoming 49-story project is located between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue and is being designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by the Rockefeller Group. The residential high-rise will incorporate an Art Deco-inspired design, setting it apart from other neighboring towers rising in the development boom, responsible for changing the skyline south of the Empire State Building.
