Foundations Underway for 606 West 30th Street in Hudson Yards

Foundation work is underway at 606 West 30th Street, a 545-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Also known as Tower B in a two-building development along with 601 West 29th Street, the 42-story structure is designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and is being developed by Lalezarian Properties. The property will yield 312,350 square feet, with 192,780 square feet designated to residential space and 14,240 square feet for commercial use. There will be 260 residences averaging 741 square feet apiece. Some of the homes are planned to be rentals, but the exact breakdown has not been revealed.

Checking in on Tishman Speyer’s 99 Hudson Boulevard Office Tower in Hudson Yards

YIMBY visited the site of 99 Hudson Boulevard, a proposed 44-story office tower in Hudson Yards. Few details have been revealed for the 1.3-million-square-foot project since developer Tishman Speyer released renderings last April. Henning Larsen Architects is behind the design, which features a distinctive massing of stacked glass boxes separated by recessed and protruding terraces. The plan calls for floor plates ranging from 50,000 square feet in the base to 22,400 square feet in the main bulk of the edifice.

The XI’s Travertine Façade Continues Installation in Chelsea

Installation of the warm-colored travertine façade is continuing on The XI, a twisting pair of 36- and 26-story residential structures at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by HFZ Capital Group, the 908,250-square-foot complex stands along the Hudson River waterfront just west of the High Line. The project will yield 236 condominiums and a 137-room Six Senses Hotel Resort Spa, the first location in the United States. Omnibuild is in charge of the construction and Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing.

Jacob K. Javits Center’s $1.5B Expansion Progresses in Hudson Yards

Progress is continuing on the 180-foot-tall northern wing of the Jacob K. Javits Center in Midtown West. Designed by TVSdesign and developed by Empire State Development Corporation, the $1.5 billion, 1.2-million-square-foot addition will raise the facility’s total span to 3.3 million square feet. Lendlease and Turner Construction Company are working together to assemble the Hudson Yards project while the developer is aiming for LEED certification.

Work is steadily progressing on the red brick curtain wall of 555 West 22nd Street, a 26-story condominium building in Chelsea. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the nearly 300-foot-tall reinforced concrete superstructure stands right across from the Hudson River and Hudson River Park. The 250,000-square-foot project will yield 141 units, averaging around 2,245 square feet apiece.
