Construction is complete on The Civilian, a 27-story hotel at 305 West 48th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, and the property is preparing to open to the public later this week. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Bright Management with Rockwell Group as the interior designer, the 303-foot-tall tower spans 73,000 square feet, with 203 guest rooms spread across 59,000 square feet. Joy Construction served as the general contractor for The Civilian, which is located at the corner of West 48th Street and Eighth Avenue, a short walk from Times Square and the Theater District.

YIMBY went to take in the views from The Spiral, a 66-story supertall commercial skyscraper at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 1,041-foot-tall structure will yield 2.85 million square feet of office space and is expected to cost nearly $3.7 billion. Turner Construction Company is managing construction, Banker Steel provided the steel work, and Permasteelisa served as the contractor for the reflective floor-to-ceiling glass enclosure for the property, which occupies a full city block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets.

The closing of construction financing was announced for a new 47-story mixed-use residential development at 550 Tenth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. The project is developed by Gotham Organization and Goldman Sachs Asset Management JV in a joint venture equity partnership, with Wells Fargo and US Bank providing a $212 million construction loan, and Lionheart Strategic Management providing $35 million in mezzanine financing.

Construction is continuing to rise on 255 West 34th Street, a 33-story hotel in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Stonehill Taylor Architects and developed by The Chetrit Group, the 397-foot-tall, 155,594-square-foot development will yield 330 hotel rooms. Flintlock Construction Services, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located on the southern edge of the Garment District between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, across from One Penn PlazaMadison Square Garden, and the nearby James A. Farley Building and the new Moynihan Train Hall.
