3ELEVEN’s Façade Wraps Up at 601 West 29th Street in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Exterior work is wrapping up on 3ELEVEN, a 60-story residential skyscraper at 601 West 29th Street in Hudson Yards. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development, the 695-foot-tall structure is also known as Tower A in a two-building complex alongside 606 West 30th Street, and will yield 935 units, with 235 designated for affordable housing, as well as 15,000 square feet of retail space. Levine Builders is constructing the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is bound by Eleventh Avenue to the east, West 29th Street to the south, and West 30th Street to the north.

Below-grade work is ramping up at 258-278 Eighth Avenue, site of a 14-story mixed-use project in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Chelsea 23rd Realty Corporation, an LLC affiliated with JJ Operating, the 173-foot-tall structure will yield 132,700 square feet with 190 rental apartments and multiple levels of retail space on the lower floors. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor and Square Mile Capital and Pacific Western Bank provided $183 million in construction financing for the Midtown, Manhattan project, which is located along Eighth Avenue between West 23rd and West 24th Streets.

Demolition Reaches Street Level Behind Preserved Façade of 16 East 16th Street In Union Square, Manhattan

Demolition is wrapping up at 16 East 16th Street, where a historic six-story structure is being converted into a nine-story hotel in Union Square. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Trevor Stahelski under the Gramercy Park House LLC, the project involves the preservation of the façade of the 1891 building, which originally served as the Margaret Louisa Home, a boarding house for women, and later as a health club. MJM Associates Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Union Square West and Fifth Avenue.

High Line Moynihan Connector’s Superstructure Begins to Take Shape in Midtown West, Manhattan

Construction is taking shape on the High Line Moynihan Connector, a nearly 1,200-foot-long extension of the High Line that will connect the elevated park with the five-building Manhattan West complex in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in collaboration with James Corner Field Operations, the connector will comprise two 600-foot-long bridges built by Turner Construction Company. Work is proceeding under a $50 million public-private partnership between Empire State Development (ESD), Friends of the High Line, and Brookfield Properties, and will culminate in easier access to Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station. The connector runs along West 30th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues and turns 90 degrees to the north at Dyer Avenue to reach the Manhattan West plaza above West 31st Street.
