SOM’s Two Manhattan West Reaches Halfway Mark in Midtown West, Manhattan

The steel superstructure has reached the halfway mark on Two Manhattan West, a 935-foot-tall office skyscraper in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 58-story building is rising at the corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue, directly to the south of its 996-foot-tall fraternal twin, One Manhattan West. Two Manhattan West will yield a total of two million square feet and its construction is expected to cost around $2 billion.

Construction is wrapping up on Maverick, a pair of architecturally identical and adjoining 20-story residential buildings at 215 West 28th Street in Chelsea. Designed by DXA Studio and developed by HAP Investments, the twin 250-foot-tall structures yield a combined 162,834 square feet and 87 condominium units, as well as 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing and Fredrik Eklund’s and John Gomes’ Eklund | Gomes team are responsible for sales and marketing for the residences, with Alex Lundqvist as the sales director in charge. Available one-bedrooms start at $1.3 million and two-bedrooms at $1.995 million, with prices for three- and four-bedroom residences available upon request. The property is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.

The Midtown property is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center, and is expected to cost around $368 million.

Exterior work is almost complete on Foster + Partners‘ 50 Hudson Yards, a 1,011-foot commercial supertall in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, the 58-story skyscraper is the final structure in the first phase of Hudson Yards and the largest by volume, yielding 2.9 million square feet of office space. The Midtown site is bound by West 34th Street to the north, Tenth Avenue to the east, West 33rd Street to the south, and Hudson Boulevard to the west.
