126 East 57th Street Reaches Street Level In Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has reached street level at 126 East 57th Street, the site of a 28-story residential building on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by ODA Architecture , who is also in charge of the interior design, and developed by MRR Development under the MRR 1326 LLC, the 346-foot-tall structure will yield 147 condominium units spread across 170,000 square feet, as well as 5,000 square feet of lower-level retail space. WSP USA is the engineer and Plaza Buildings is the general contractor for the project, which is being constructed on an L-shaped parcel at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue. A narrow panhandle section of the building’s footprint will extend north to East 57th Street.

Weill Cornell Medicine Finalizes 300,000-Square-Foot Lease at 575 Lexington Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

George Comfort & Sons, on behalf of 575 Lexington Avenue owners, has secured a 300,000-square-foot lease with Weill Cornell Medicine in Midtown East as part of a 30-year agreement.

Soloviev Group Announces 513 Affordable Housing Units in Proposed Freedom Plaza Development

The Soloviev Group has announced the inclusion of 513 affordable housing units within the proposed Freedom Plaza in Manhattan, significantly contributing to the city’s inclusionary housing efforts. Located from 38th to 41st Streets east of First Avenue and covering over six acres in Midtown East, the ambitious mixed-use development was already slated to feature 4.77 acres of green space, a museum, shopping and restaurants, and a hotel. Now with the inclusion of the affordable units, it also stands to be one of Manhattan’s largest inclusionary housing initiatives in more than a decade.

Renderings Revealed For 125 West 57th Street on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan

New renderings have been revealed for 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building rising along Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Cain International, the 440-foot-tall structure will span 260,000 square feet and yield 185,000 square feet of Class A office space, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and an updated home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883 and sold the land to the developers in 2017 for $150 million. Leading Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc‘s One57 and SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street.

Construction Nears Completion On One High Line at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Exterior work and façade installation is nearing completion at One High Line, a pair of twisting structures at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group and Access Industries, the 36- and 26-story structures will yield 900,000 square feet with 236 condominium units ranging from one- to five-bedroom layouts, a hotel component operated by Faena Hotel, ground-floor retail space, and a new landscaped public plaza. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor, Enzo Enea is the landscape architect, and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the property, which is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and stands adjacent to the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.

Facade Installation Nearing Completion On The Elisa At 251 West 14th Street In Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction continues on The Elisa, an 11-story residential building at 251 West 14th Street in Chelsea. Designed by Isay Weinfeld Architects, the topped out structure will yield 25 condominium units in one- to three-bedroom layouts with sales and marketing by Bianca D’Alessio, Christian Haag, and Mia Calabrese of Nest Seekers and SERHANT, with prices ranging from $1.45 million to $5 million. The largest reported unit is going to be a four-bedroom penthouse. Pizzarotti is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, and sits by the neighborhoods of the West Village and the Meatpacking District.

Facade Installation Progresses At 520 Fifth Avenue In Midtown, Manhattan

Construction and facade installation are both moving along at 520 Fifth Avenue, a slender 88-story residential supertall rising in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall reinforced concrete skyscraper will yield 415,000 square feet with 100 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. Charles & Co. is the interior designer, WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Exterior Facade For 44-54 Ninth Avenue’s Expansion Now Visible Over Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction, expansion and renovation work continues at 44-54 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story office and retail complex on the border of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital, the mixed-use project consists of the restoration of a row of a low-rise landmarked townhomes lining the streets and the construction of a new office volume set back from the sidewalks. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue.

A mixed-use development at 335 Fifth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan has officially broken ground. Located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 3rd Avenue, the project is the latest development from MAG Partners and global holding company Safanad, who’ve retained COOKFOX Architects to design the property and Urban Atelier Group as general contractor.

Demolition Finishes for COOKFOX’s 335 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Demolition work is complete at 335 Eighth Avenue, the site of an upcoming seven-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX and developed by MAG Partners and Penn South (aka Mutual Redevelopment Houses, Inc.), the 200,000-square-foot structure will yield 188 residential units with 30 percent dedicated to affordable housing for low- and middle-income residents under the Affordable NY Program, as well as a 23,000-square-foot Lidl grocery store on the ground floor. Titan Industrial SVC Corp served as the demolition contractor and Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street within the Penn South affordable housing cooperative, officially known as Mutual Redevelopment Houses. The project is being co-financed by MAG Partners and global holding company Safanad.
