Tishman Speyer’s BIG Supertall Spiral Officially Breaks Ground, Hudson Yards

The prominence of the Hudson Yards district continues to grow, and today, Tishman Speyer has announced the official start of construction for The Spiral. The 1,031-foot tall building will be the fifth supertall added to the area. An event to mark the occasion will be held this afternoon, and will conclude with the planting of a 20-foot Alaskan Cedar tree to serve as Hudson Boulevard & Park’s annual Christmas tree.

Jean Nouvel Presides Over 53 West 53rd Street’s Topping-Out, Views Show Rest of Billionaire’s Row Continues to Rise

It’s been five months since 53 West 53rd Street came within striking distance of its pinnacle. We can now report that the Midtown supertall has officially topped out at its highest habitable floor, which contains the upper portion of a $70 million duplex. In today’s post, we scope the views from the tower’s apex, and also have the latest from the tower’s architect, Jean Nouvel, who attended the topping-out celebration last week.

One Vanderbilt Begins Gaining Prominence On The Midtown East Skyline

Right across from the iconic Grand Central terminal in Midtown, construction is moving along for the commercial supertall One Vanderbilt. Our last update in March showed that the building had reached two floors above the distinctive retail podium. We can report that the structure has more than doubled in height over the past three months, now standing 17 floors above street level. The building will eventually top off 1,401 feet above street level, and SL Green is developing.
