439 West 36th Street Readies for Excavation in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Excavation is set to begin at 439 West 36th Street, the site of a 12-story residential building in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. Designed by Archimaera Architecture and developed and built by ZD Jasper Realty under the ZDJ 36LLC, the 120-foot-tall structure will span 48,138 square feet and yield 52 units, recreation space on the roof and in the cellar level, a below-grade community facility, and ground-floor commercial space. The project is being financed by Johnny Su of Real Estate Capital of America (RECAP) and is located on a 75-foot-wide interior lot between Dyer Avenue to the east and Tenth Avenue to the west.

Revised Design Revealed for Affirmation Tower At 418 11th Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Renderings have been revealed for a redesign of Affirmation Tower, a proposed mixed-use supertall skyscraper at 418 Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards. The development team of The Peebles Corporation, McKissack & McKissack, Exact Capital Group, and the Witkoff Group has brought on OMA to redesign the 1.4-million-square-foot structure, which is planned to yield mixed-income apartments, a convention center, retail space, community facilities, a public observation deck, and The National Civil Rights Museum as part of a collaboration with the NAACP. The project would rise from a 1.2-acre plot dubbed “Site K” bound by Eleventh Avenue, Hudson Boulevard West, and West 35th and 36th Streets.

711 Seventh Avenue Hotel Tower Begins Ascent in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 711 Seventh Avenue, a 32-story hotel tower in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed in a joint venture between general contractor Flintlock Construction Services and Atlas Hospitality under the 711 Seventh Hotel Associates LLC, the 343-foot-tall structure will yield 400 guest rooms under IHG Hotel & Resorts’ voco brand. Capital Industries served as the demolition contractor for the three low-rise former occupants of the L-shaped parcel, which has frontage along Seventh Avenue and West 48th Street.

One High Line’s Public Plaza Takes Shape at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on the lower levels of One High Line, a pair of twisting structures at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group and Access Industries, the 36- and 26-story structures will span 900,000 square feet and yield 236 condominium units in one- to five-bedroom layouts, as well as a hotel component operated by Faena Hotel, ground-floor retail space, and a new plaza separately designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Field Operations. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor, Enea Landscape Architecture is the landscape architect, and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the property, which is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and stands adjacent to the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.
