Façade Work on Hill West Architect’s 7 West 57th Street Nears Completion in Midtown

The glass curtain wall installation on the main southern elevation of 7 West 57th Street, a new mixed-use residential building designed by Hill West Architects, is drawing close to completion. All 19 floors above the ground level are enclosed in the envelope, including the metal grille that was recently installed on the third floor. The site is located between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue along Billionaires’ Row, and sits directly adjacent to the SOM-designed Solow Building, aka 9 West 57th Street. The 237-foot-tall, reinforced concrete structure is being developed by Solow Realty & Development Group, which purchased the property for $25,550,000 back in 2005.

Long-Awaited Office Tower at 106 West 56th Street Finally Tops Out, in Midtown

Construction at 106 West 56th Street has recently topped out at 27 stories. The Perkins Eastman-designed office building stands 403 feet tall and is being developed by private equity firm Savanna Fund, along with Hong Kong-based developer Atom Assets. The steel superstructure and its gentle setbacks should soon see the first glass curtain wall panels installed in the coming weeks. The site is located just one block south of 57th Street, aka Billionaires’ Row.

Cantilevered Floors of COOKFOX’s 39 West 23rd Street Begin To Rise in the Flatiron District

Construction is rapidly ascending at 39 West 23rd Street, a 24-story, ground-up residential structure in the Flatiron District. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Anbau Enterprises, the project consists of two towers, one along West 23rd Street and a second superstructure at the back of the property. A central landscaped courtyard will sit between each reinforced concrete building.

Foundation Work Begins for 29th & 5th, BIG’s Office Skyscraper at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad

Excavation work has commenced for 29th & 5th, Bjarke Ingels Group‘s proposed skyscraper at 3 West 29th Street in NoMad. Excavators, piling machines, and other construction equipment are in use at the site, which is located just five blocks south of the Empire State Building. Developed by HFZ Capital Group, the future 34-story, 551-foot-tall office tower will yield 300,000 square feet and incorporate shear glass walls and staggered outdoor terraces along the eastern elevation.
