Excavation and Demolition Underway at 729-739 Second Avenue in Murray Hill, Manhattan

Excavation is underway at 729 Second Avenue, the site of a 20-story residential building in Murray Hill, Manhattan. Designed by CetraRuddy and developed by Brause Realty, the 237-foot-tall structure will yield 120,000 square feet with 157 units and 4,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Titan Industrial SVC Corp and Alba Services Inc. are the demolition contractors for the property, which is located between East 38th and East 39th Streets.

Murray Nears Completion at 509 Third Avenue in Murray Hill, Manhattan

Construction is finishing up on Murray, a 35-story residential tower at 509 Third Avenue in Murray Hill, Manhattan. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Kahen Properties with Lalezarian Properties under the Third and Thirty Four LLC, the 386-foot-tall structure will span 166,917 square feet and yield 229 rental units with an average scope of 692 square feet, as well as 8,253 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and a private 30-foot-long yard. Charlton Development Group is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 34th Street.

Foundations Near Completion for 31-Story Hotel at 32 West 48th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Foundation work is nearing completion at 32 West 48th Street, the site of an upcoming 31-story hotel tower in Midtown, Manhattan’s Diamond District. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Extell, the 456-foot-tall structure will yield 213,158 square feet with 534 guest rooms. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, directly south of Rockefeller Center.

FÖRENA Completes Construction at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is complete on FÖRENA, a 12-story residential building at 540 Sixth Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Landsea Homes and DNA Development, the 80,000-square-foot structure contains 50 condominium units in one- to three-bedroom layouts with pricing starting at $1.575 million, and ground-floor retail space. Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of The Eklund Gomes Team and The Tuinstra-Davis Team at Douglas Elliman are leading sales and marketing for the property, which was built by Ryder Construction at the corner of West 14th Street and Sixth Avenue on the border with Greenwich Village.

Ruby Two-Building Development Wraps Up at 243 West 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is finishing up on Ruby, a pair of 22-story residential buildings at 243 West 28th Street in Chelsea. Designed by COOKFOX and developed by MAG Partners, Atalaya, Safanad, and Qualitas, the 400,000-square-foot project will yield 480 rental units with 144 reserved for low- and middle-income households, as well as 8,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is in charge of leasing and marketing and Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located on a through-block parcel between Seventh and Eighth Avenues with frontage on both West 28th and 29th Streets.

Exterior Work Continues on 44-54 Ninth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Renovation and expansion work is continuing on 44-54 Ninth Avenue, an eight-story office and retail building at the confluence of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital, the project involves the restoration of a row of a landmarked townhomes and the construction of a new office structure above. Broadway Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the intersection of West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue.

JPMorgan Chase’s Headquarters Approaches Supertall Status at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction is climbing higher on JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners with Adamsom Associates as the architect of record and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. JB&B is the MEP engineer and AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the full-block property, which is bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Rises Higher Above Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is steadily climbing on 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 100 condominium units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Construction Finishes on Penn Station’s Long Island Rail Road Modernization in Midtown, Manhattan

The $414 million renovation of Penn Station‘s Long Island Rail Road concourse is now complete in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, AECOM, and Skanska, the project centered on the station’s cavernous 33rd Street corridor, improving circulation and access for more than 600,000 people who traverse the corridor daily.

Demolition Continues for 68-Story Skyscraper at 100 West 37th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Demolition is steadily moving downward at 100 West 37th Street, the site of a 68-story mixed-use residential skyscraper in the Garment District of Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Sioni Group under the 989 Sixth Realty LLC, the 743-foot-tall structure will yield 384,118 square feet with 300 condominium units spread across 297,301 square feet, as well as 86,817 square feet of commercial space and two cellar levels. Northeast Specialist Group is currently serving as the demolition contractor for the corner property, which is alternately addressed as 989-993 Sixth Avenue and located at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and West 37th Street.
