Curtain Wall Installation Resumes on 450 Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Exterior work is continuing on 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 51-story hotel skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 642-foot-tall structure will yield 379 guest rooms, a business center, a ballroom, and a fourth-floor restaurant with a bar and outdoor terrace. Atria Builders is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

36 West 38th Street Rises Above Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has reached street level on 36 West 38th Street, a 20-story hotel in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Gene Kaufman and developed by Onboard Hospitality LLC, which purchased the property for $19 million in a bankruptcy auction from Gemini Real Estate in 2017, the structure will stand 205 feet tall and yield an undisclosed number of hotel rooms. Omnibuild Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, just south of Bryant Park.

Grocer Lidl Signs Lease for Penn South at 335 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

MAG Partners and Lidl US have announced a 23,000-square-foot lease for a ground-floor grocery store at 335 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan. The 200,000-square-foot, seven-story mixed-income apartment building is being developed within the Penn South campus, an affordable housing cooperative designed by COOKFOX.

Housing Lottery Launches for The Tate at 535 West 23rd Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Tate, a 14-story residential building built in 2002 at 535 West 23rd Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Rockwell Group and developed by Related Companies, the structure yields 430 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 16 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $101,486 to $187,330.

KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Continues its Ascent in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 100 residential units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Demolition is underway on the final two buildings at 12 West 57th Street, the site of a 672-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Solow Management Corp., the tower will rise along Billionaires’ Row between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and West 56th and 57th Streets.

217 West 20th Street Nears Completion in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 217 West 20th Street, a six-story private residence in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by TEN Arquitectos in collaboration with Elsa Ponce Architectural Design and developed by Bermuda Overseas Mission under the 217 West 20th Street LLC, the structure will yield 11,000 square feet with a ground-floor garage. Wesbuilt Construction Mangers is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.

125 West 57th Street Rises Above Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has risen above street level on 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building along Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy Properties ABR Partners and Cain International, the 440-foot-tall structure will yield 185,000 square feet of Class A office space and a new ground-floor home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883. Leading Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc‘s One57 and SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street.

YIMBY Tours The Landmark, Tiffany & Co.’s Renovated Flagship Store at 727 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

On Friday, April 28, the Tiffany & Co. flagship store reopened its doors to the public at 727 Fifth Avenue after a four-year renovation and structural expansion project in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by OMA partners Shohei Shigematsu and Jake Forster with interiors by Peter Marino Architects, the undertaking involved the construction of a new three-story volume above the parapet of the 83-year-old building and the gut renovation of 8,400 square feet of its interiors. Now rebranded as “The Landmark,” the commercial property’s modernization was reportedly the largest single-store investment to date by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH), the company’s owner and majority stakeholder. CallisonRTKL was the architect of record, WSP was the structural and MEP engineer, and Structure Tone was the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 57th Street along Billionaires’ Row.

JPMorgan Chase’s Supertall Headquarters Reaches Second Setback at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction has reached the second setback on JPMorgan Chase‘s 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners with Adamsom Associates as the architect of record and developed by Tishman Speyer, 70-story skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 15,000 employees, and will become the tallest structure in New York completely powered by hydroelectric energy. Adamson Associates is the architect of record, Banker Steel provided the steelwork, NYC Constructors is the steel subcontractor, Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers (MRCE) designed the structural foundation elements, Severud Associates is the engineer of record, R&R Scaffolding Ltd. will provide the BMU, New Hudson Facades is supplying the curtain wall, and AEOCOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full city block bound by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.
